On Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, our loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend and soon-to-be grandfather, Tawannee A. Kolb, peacefully returned to the open arms of our Father in Heaven. Tawannee was born in Redlands, California, on April 21, 1970, the fourth of seven children, to Tyron and Vivian Kolb. Tawannee was raised in West Valley City where he attended several elementary schools, including Hunter Elementary, where in fifth grade he met Alesha Lee Gardner, who would later become his eternal companion; John F. Kennedy Jr. High School and Kearns High School. In junior high, Tawannee played volleyball, being the setter on the team. In high school, he played football and wrestled. He was also the senior class vice president. He had many good friends in high school, and in fact named his oldest child and daughter after his best friend. In July 1989, Tawannee entered the service of our Father in Heaven, serving a mission in Houston, Texas, Spanish speaking. After only four short months, he returned home due to illness that had plagued him since he was twelve. Ten months later on Sept. 28, 1990, Tawannee was sealed to the love of his life, Alesha Lee Gardner, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. Tawannee and Alesha bought their first home at that time and brought into this world the first half of their children, three beautiful daughters, Kenley, Kassidee and Kaela. In December of 1996, Tawannee and Alesha moved into the home they built in Tooele to raise their children and continue their family, adding three more children, Kaden, Karly and Kyler. Tawannee was a family man. As long as it involved his wife and children, he did it. From camping, fishing, many dance recitals, piano recitals, tennis matches, water polo, softball games, T-ball games, football games and soccer games, his children did and are doing it all, and he didn’t miss one of them. In October of 1998, Tawannee was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, a liver disease, and was told that he would need a liver transplant in five to ten years. On April 5, 2003, Tawannee received that gift from Christine Oliver and the Oliver family, giving Tawannee almost twelve more years to watch and raise his children. Tawannee was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including Sunday School teacher, Elders Quorum presidency, Temple Preparation teacher, executive secretary, Young Men’s counselor and advisor, Primary teacher, and, where he found his greatest joy, Nursery leader (two different times for a total of five years of service). He had a way with children and the youth gravitated to him. Although not very large in stature, Tawannee made up for it in personality, and he is going to be greatly missed because of it. Tawannee was employed for nearly 24 years with Meridian Title Company, working as a licensed title officer. Meridian was much more than a place of employment for Tawannee, they were a second family. There are no words to express our sincere love and gratitude for all that Meridian has done, not only for Tawannee but for our family through the years. Tawannee is preceded in death by his grandparents, Champ and Mary Meier, Tawannee Kolb and Alora Page, and his big brother, Kreg Meier Kolb. He is survived by his loving wife and eternal companion, Alesha; his children, Kenley Alora (Colten) Anderson, Kassidee Kay (Marcus) Westover, Kaela Marie (Tyler) Johnson, Kaden Tawannee Kolb, Karly Michael Kolb and Kyler Robert Kolb; his parents, Tyron and Vivian Kolb; siblings, Tyanne (Darin) Peck, Kent (Becky) Kolb, Klayton (Rachelle) Kolb, Taylor (Jodi) Kolb and Katy Kolb Bennett; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. As a family we would like to thank the many doctors who have cared for Tawannee over the years, and especially those who cared for him during the last few days of his life. A public viewing was held Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main St., Tooele, Utah. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at 11 a.m., with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the LDS stake center located at 751 N. 520 East, Tooele, Utah. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
