Nicholas Justin Anderson

Obit Nicholas Justin AndersonNicholas Justin Anderson passed away Oct. 13, 2015, after a long battle with drug addiction. He was born on July 31, 1973, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Nick loved the outdoors and was always excited to go to new places and try new things. He was a hard worker and loved building, being around the guys and coming home with a paycheck in his hand. He was kind, ready to help anyone and was loved by many. He is survived by his three daughters; Krista, Madelyn, and Nicole; grandsons Easton and Preston; grandmother Naoma Smith; parents Mike and Chris Smith and Chris and Kay Anderson; brother Aaron (Laurie) Jenkins; sisters Olivia (Matt) Pacheco, Amy Arden, C’Lista Anderson and Kelli Riggs. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends, and his very special friends Joe and Steph Mueller. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Tate Mortuary. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.

Obit Anthony L. Busico (Tony)Anthony L. Busico (Tony), 90 years old of Tooele, Utah, passed away Oct. 14, 2015, due to complications of old age. Today, Tony joins his brother (Joe) in Heaven to celebrate Joe’s birthday and Tony’s passing. Tony was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Tooele, Utah, to Chiarina and Vincenzo Busico. Tony was one of 10 children. Tony graduated from Tooele High School in 1942. Tony served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 through 1946; he was honorably discharged. In 1942, he started his 39-year-long career working for the federal government. In 1946, he went to work at the Tooele Army Depot. He was a machinist for the AEMD division and he retired as a machinist supervisor in 1980. He had received multiple achievement awards throughout his career for cost-saving suggestions and superior performances. In 1947, Tony married Joyce A. Murphy, they later divorced. In March 1961, in Elko, Nevada, Tony married Anna Marie Corbett, who is deceased. Tony was an active member of St Marguerite’s Church, and the Tooele Senior Citizens. He enjoyed all activities with his family and many friends. He was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed bowling, boating in Lake Powell, dancing and playing his accordion. He lived his entire life in Tooele. He enjoyed his Italian heritage and all that came with it: tight family relations, the food, music, the country and the wine. Tony is survived by his children: James Busico of Tooele, William Busico (Sandy) of Maryland, Teresa Busico of Tooele, Michael Busico (Lori) of Colorado and Dolores Satter (Paul) of Tooele; his grandchildren: Jamie Busico of Tooele, Chanda Skinner of Tooele, Stephanie Busico of Tooele, Michele Day of Salt Lake City, Angela Quintana of Tooele, Amanda McMain of Tooele, Craig Day of Tooele and Von Satter of Tooele; siblings: Mary Cerroni of Tooele, Louise Busico of Tooele and Dolly Gregrich (Richard) of Stansbury. Tony has many great-grandchildren and friends. Tony was preceded in death by parents: Chiarina and Vincenzo Busico; spouse: Anna Marie Corbett (1989); siblings: Lena Teter, Pearl Miller, Edith Morrell, Angie Burris, Ann Gordon and Joseph (Joe) Busico. The family would like to give a special thanks to Roberta Graft for being such an exceptional caregiver, and for all her kindness and care she provided for Tony and the family. Special thanks to the Magnolia House staff and Canyon Hospice for all the care, love and support. They have all been amazing. Last, but not least, his long-time companion Etta McBride for all of her love, care and compassion she has showed our dad for a very long time. Thank you. We love you, Dad. A funeral mass will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 17 at St Marguerite’s Church, 510 E. Vine St., Tooele, Utah, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Friends may call at the church Friday, Oct. 16 from 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Obit Peggy Perkins Martin 1Peggy Perkins Martin of Lake Point, Utah, passed away on Oct. 13, 2015. Peggy was born on Jan. 26, 1943, in Evanston, Wyoming, to Elijah Perkins and Ethel Ida Turner Perkins. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. Obit Peggy Perkins Martin 2Peggy had a great sense of humor. April Fool’s Day will never be the same. Her sewing skills were superb, as well as her delicious cooking. Peggy married the love of her life, Larry J. Martin, on Jan. 20, 1961. Peggy is survived by her husband Larry J.; son Rick J. Martin; daughters Jeanne Martin Griffith and Ginger Kaye Martin; grandchildren Bailey Lynne Martin Griffith and Troy Jay (T J) Martin, and a great-grandson, Boston Jay Martin; sisters Dorothy Perkins Brangham, Ellen Perkins and Patsy Perkins Stahley; sister-in-law Joan Nixon (Mark); and brother in-law Tony Martin (Susan). She was proceeded in death by her parents and siblings Jack Perkins, Betty Lester, Mary Brown, Virginia Martin, and Raymond Perkins. Funeral service will be on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Crandall Funeral Home, 800 Uinta Street, Evanston, Wyoming. A viewing will be held on Friday evening, Oct. 16, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. in the Lake Point Chapel, 1366 Canyon Road, as well as Saturday morning at Crandall Funeral Home, one hour prior to the service. Charles Edwin Bedell, 96, passed away Oct. 8, 2015, from pneumonia and complications of a fractured pelvis. Charles was born in North Platte, Nebraska, on Feb. 20, 1919, to William E. Bedell and Ora (Priest) Bedell. Obit Charles Edwin Bedell 2He moved as a baby with his parents to Hahn’s Peak in northern Colorado on a cattle ranch that his father purchased. He attended a one-room school at Hahn’s Peak through the eighth grade. Charles worked as a cowboy on a number of ranches, as a coal miner, a farmer, a carpenter and finally as a butcher and meat cutter. He married Luella Lea Powell on Nov. 3, 1940. They were married for 72 years. Luella died Feb. 7, 2012. Charles and Luella had three children: Dan (Mella) of Centerville, Utah; Jane Peebles (Garwood) of Pensacola, Florida; and Ivan (Leanne), of Erda, Utah; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Charles and Luella spent most of their lives in Colorado. Following retirement they lived in Arkansas and Utah. Charles was a great storyteller and loved collecting antiques and western memorabilia. Charles was the youngest in his family and was preceded in death by his parents, wife Luella, his brothers Orville and Earl and sisters Pearl and Lelia.  The family wants to express deep appreciation to the caregivers at Waikoloa assisted living, especially Carma Nelson who loved and cared for Charles as if he were her own father. Charles will be laid to rest in the Bountiful Cemetery alongside Luella. Obit Milton Dennis (Denny) Coles 1On Oct. 11, 2015, Denny lost his second battle with cancer at his home in Grantsville. He was born Dec. 21, 1941, in Boise, Idaho, and lived quite the life. Obit Milton Dennis (Denny) Coles 2He was a loving, caring person and would do anything he could for those he cared about. He has many friends and everyone loved him. He had done just about everything from working on trailer houses to construction. He worked at city clubs and even as a security guard and other things at Energy Solutions. He owned bars, restaurants and service stations. He had a strong passion for cars, racing and loved working outside in the yard. He always had to be doing something. He was a Seaman recruit in the United States Navy on the ship the U.S.S. Hanson and served a month shy of four years. He is preceded in death by his mother Rita Lowther (Coles), Idaho; father Alvin (Bob) Coles,  Idaho; stepdad Ted Dicus, Idaho; sister Toni Coles, Idaho; cousin Albert Haskins, Idaho; auntie Laura Skoye, Idaho; stepbrother Bob Dicus, Idaho; and auntie Lois Neal, Idaho. He is survived by his daughter Harlie Coles, Utah; son Richard Jones, Utah; sister Debbie (Bruce) Alkire, Idaho; sister Launa Owen, Florida; cousin Sharon Haskins (Skoye), Idaho; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be loved and missed dearly. There will be a military honor service held at Dalton-Hoopes Funeral Parlor, 150 W. Main St., Grantsville, Utah, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015. Obit Jerold Lee Seely 1Jerold Lee Seely was called home to his Father in Heaven on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, after valiantly enduring a terminal illness. His family was by his side. Obit Jerold Lee Seely 2He was born to Lee Adair Seely and Verda Mae Seely on Aug. 9, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He was a devoted husband and father and faithfully served in his church callings.  He honorably served an LDS mission to the Frankfurt Germany mission. He was married to his sweetheart and eternal companion Shirley Ann Sturm in the Manti, Utah LDS temple on Sept. 11, 1965. They were married for 50 years and had five children and 10 grandchildren. Jerold graduated with an associates degree from Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, and a music composite bachelor’s degree from Weber State University. He was a much-loved music teacher and also taught private music lessons for 36 years in the Wyoming, Tooele, Sanpete, and Nebo School Districts. He taught band in Tooele for 18 years and in Spanish Fork for 14 years. He taught all of his children to play musical instruments and was able to play several instruments including clarinet, saxophone, and flute. Jerold enjoyed gardening, construction, working with his hands, collecting clocks, watching Westerns, going to movies and doing puzzles with his family, making a witty play on words, teaching, rock collecting, camping, repairing musical instruments, and serving his family. He was great at just “being there” when needed and was always a hard worker and provider. Jerold doted on his children and grandchildren. They all felt the warmth of his love and devotion. It seemed like there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix and he was always ready to lend a hand or listening ear to help others or support his loved ones. Jerold blessed his family with a lifetime of happy memories, laughter and love. He is truly the loving patriarch of his family. His silly puns, advice, conversation, amazing hugs, leadership and example, big blue eyes, testimony, quiet strength and unconditional love will be dearly missed by his family and loved ones until they are one day reunited. Jerold is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Sturm Seely, son Kenneth (Jeanette) Seely, daughter Lori Seely, daughter Tammy (Chris) McDannell, daughter Trudy Seely and son Randy (Penny) Seely; grandchildren Jessica, Devan, Bracken, Duncan, Chandler, Vinnessa, Leezette, Caleb, James “Jimmer” and Loralee; and siblings Donna, Darlene, Lanny, and Larry. Memorial services to celebrate Jerold’s life will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at noon at the East Meadows LDS church building at 1552 E. 750 South, Spanish Fork, Utah. There will be no public viewing; however, there will be a display depicting highlights of Jerold’s life for others to enjoy. The bonds of our love are eternal! Obit James L. Wilcox Jr. (Casey)James L. Wilcox Jr. (Casey), 72, died Oct. 14, 2015, with his family by his side. Casey, the first of eight children, was born April 4, 1943, to James and Opal Wilcox in Tooele, Utah. As a child, he had many adventures as the family moved throughout the west. In 1960, he joined the U.S. Army and served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Casey married the love of his life Colleen Nielsen of Tooele, Utah, on June 24, 1961; they remained side by side for more than 54 years. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked construction in Idaho for several years before moving to Tooele, where he attended college, learning electronics while working at the Tooele Army Depot and later Dugway Proving Grounds, where he worked in the service of his country until he retired in 1998. Casey was always outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, horseback riding or any other activity he could do with his family. Casey raised five children: Kim, Rory, Jim, Connie and a special granddaughter Amy. His family was his life and he had a special love for his many grandchildren: Kenny, Kristen, Steve, Amber, KaiLani, Shalayne, Alex, Danijo, Aspen, Shaye, and Riddik; and six great-grandchildren: Emma, Maddie, Cheyenne, James Curtis, Steven and Zoey. Casey always found time to do the stuff that was important to the kids. Survived by his wife Colleen; children Kim (Lew) Byrne, Tooele, Utah; Rory (Shonna), Spring Creek, Nevada; Jim (Lori), Grantsville, Utah; Connie (Dan) Miles, Tooele, Utah; and Amy Wilcox, Tooele, Utah; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Sheron (Sam) Ladue, Parker, Colorado; brother Don Wilcox, Boise, Idaho; and sister Marilyn (Terry) Thompson, Grantsville, Utah. Preceded in death by his parents James and Opal Wilcox, sister Constance and brothers Wayne, Steve and Kerry. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Tooele City Cemetery. Obit Priscilla Marie MorgasPriscilla Marie Morgas, 40, of Tooele, Utah, returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday October15, 2015, in the presence of her loving family. She was born on Aug. 4, 1975, to Lino and Evelyn Morgas of Tooele, Utah, where she was raised and lived until her passing. She graduated from Tooele High School in 1993, followed by earning her certificate in cosmetology from Hairitage Beauty School in 1994. Priscilla had a love for music and sports since a young age, playing the saxophone and clarinet in the band at school, and she was a top-notch softball player. She most recently gained a love for hiking and fulfilled her dream to hike the Grand Canyon with her father and son in 2012. However, her most favorite pastime was spending time with her kids and two nephews at the movies, amusement parks and crazy nights at home. Priscilla had a spitfire personality, but her smile was contagious and lit up every room she walked into. Everyone who knew her was a recipient at one time of her endless giving and selfless acts of kindness, earning her the nickname “Mamacilla.” Priscilla continues to give back after her passing by choosing to be an organ donor and saving the lives of others. She is survived by her two children Victoria and Noah along with her parents Lino and Evelyn Morgas, sister/brother-in-law Yvonne and Luis Navarro, nephews Cesar and Marlo, grandmother Dorothy Maestas, aunt/uncle Andrew/Andie Quintana and endless uncles, aunts and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Tomas and Ofelia Morgas (Taos, New Mexico) and Ralph and Priscilla Maestas (Tooele, Utah). The family will be celebrating Priscilla’s life with a vigil service on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at 6 p.m. and a mass on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at 1 p.m. followed by laying her to rest at the Tooele Cemetery. Both the vigil and mass will be held at St. Marguerite’s Catholic Church in Tooele. Graveside services are being handled by Didericksen Memorial of Grantsville, Utah.

Obit Susan Luper “Grandma Suzy”Susan Luper, our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt and friend, returned to her heavenly home peacefully on Oct. 17, 2015, surrounded by loved ones. Susan was born Dec. 28, 1955, in Heber City, Utah, to Marva Montgomery and Philip Van Wagoner. Susan attended Tooele High School where she met the love of her life, Rodney Luper. She and Rod were married on Aug. 3, 1973, and were later sealed to their daughter and three sons on Oct. 29, 1993, in the Salt Lake Temple. As best friends for over 42 years, Rod and Susan were inseparable, exemplifying a dedicated and committed companionship and marriage. Susan loved spending time with her family in the outdoors camping, fishing and riding 4-wheelers. She was a dedicated and wonderful mother to her four children. As grandchildren entered her life she immediately embraced, honored and cherished the role of grandmother and was affectionately known as Grandma Suzy. She made birthdays and holidays extra-special and memorable for each of her 14 grandchildren. Grandma Suzy’s quick-witted, spunky personality and sense of humor always made her the life of the party. She loved to make others smile and always looked forward to time with family and friends. Susan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many capacities and stood as a stalwart follower of Jesus Christ. She loved to serve others and could be found serving those in need even while in the weakest of health. Susan is preceded in death by her two brothers, Philip Lynn and Sean Van Wagoner and her mother-in-law, Darlene Luper. She is survived by her eternal sweetheart, Rod Luper; her children, Michelle (Brad) Gowans, Grantsville, Utah; Michael (Sarajane), Draper, Utah; Matt (Juliet), Syracuse, Utah; Mark (Janey), Orem, Utah; mother, Marva (John) Nelson, St. George, Utah; father, Philip (Claudia) Van Wagoner, Rexburg, Idaho; father-in-law, Chuck Luper, Tooele, Utah; brother, Steven (Sharon) Kohler, Kaysville, Utah; brother, Brent Van Wagoner, Lakeland, Florida; sister, Julie (Russell) Johnson, Grantsville, Utah; brother, Jeff (Kerinda) Van Wagoner, Vista, California; and 14 grandchildren. A viewing will be held at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main St., Tooele, Utah, on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. A funeral will be held on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center, 1000 N. Broadway, Tooele, Utah, with a viewing also held one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will take place at the Tooele Cemetery following the funeral services.

Obit Lucille Widger MurrayLucille Widger Murray, 90, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, in Tooele. She was born June 18, 1925, to Charles and Elizabeth Jones Widger in Bingham, Utah. She attended school in Kamas, Utah. She married Charles Covert, later divorced. She married W. Glen Murray on April 12, 1946, in Elko, Nevada. Lucille enjoyed sewing and was an avid quilter. She sewed Barbie doll clothes, and made quilts for her family and friends. She looked forward to spending birthdays and holidays with her family and friends. She enjoyed camping and fishing. She really looked forward to her trips to Wendover to play her one-armed bandits. She also enjoyed her trips to Phoenix and to Lake of the Ozarks to visit family. Mom was also an avid bingo player and rarely missed her Friday-night bingo until her health would not allow her to go anymore. Lucille is survived by her son Glen (Becky) Murray, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, her stepsister Vernessa Miller and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilber Glen Murray, son Bill Covert, sister Nancy Anderson and stepbrother Don Gibbons. Funeral services will be held Thursday Oct. 22, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Tate Mortuary with a viewing to be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery. A special thank you to the staff at Magnolia House, Canyon Home Health and Hospice and to Dr. Trudel for all of their help and compassion for my mom.

Obit LG Cummins 1LG Cummins, 86, passed away on Oct. 18, 2015. LG was born in Navasota, Texas, to George Washington and Sally Mixon. Obit LG Cummins 2He married Bertha Nay on Aug. 18, 1984, in Roy, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. LG served two years in the Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He received his bachelor’s degree from BYU and later, a master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of Utah. He taught elementary school at Central School and West Elementary in Tooele, Utah, and he retired in 1987. He continued to work as a substitute teacher for several years afterward. He is survived by his wife Bertha, sons Gregg (Brittney), Mason (Denise) and Landon (Lindsey) Cummins, daughter Sarah (Levi) Frampton, and one brother Weyland (Bobbi) Cummins. He is preceded in death by his parents George Washington and Sally Mixon, brothers George, Leslie, Lester “Shorty,” Carl, Donald, Vernon, Maurice, Aubrey, Boyce, Boyd and Russell, and sisters Adeline and Dorothy. We would like to thank the staff at the Magnolia House and Harmony Home Health Care for their care and service. Visitation for friends and family will be Friday, Oct. 23 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the LDS Chapel at 180 S. Coleman. The funeral service will begin at noon at the same location. Obit Melbourne Guy Lawrence Jr. 1Melbourne Guy Lawrence Jr., 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, after a short battle with cancer. Obit Melbourne Guy Lawrence Jr. 2Mel was born April 4, 1949 to Melbourne Guy Lawrence, Sr. and Edna Mae Johnson Lawrence in Tooele, Utah. He graduated from Tooele High School in 1967. He received a scholarship to attend Trade Tech (now SLCC), from which he graduated in 1968. Mel married Sheryl Bradshaw in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 6, 1968. Together, they had three sons, Steven, Douglas (Cheryl), and Richard (Rachelle). He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arnold and Bill, sister Jane, and mother-in-law Norma Staples Bradshaw. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, his sons, 10 grandchildren, a great-grandson, four brothers, three sisters, and a very large extended family. A great-granddaughter is due next month. He spent 28 years in the Civil Service at Hill AFB and Tooele Army Depot as a Master Machinist and as an Electronics Technician Team Leader. He also fulfilled various LDS Church callings. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26 at the Tooele Stake Center, 253 S. 200 East, Tooele, Utah. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.

Obit Joyce Goldman McAteeJoyce Goldman McAtee, 79, passed away at home on Oct. 18, 2015. Joyce was born on April 8, 1936, to Joesph and Inez Lundberg Goldman. She grew up in Murray, Utah, and graduated from Murray High School with the class of 1954. She married Frank D. McAtee in March of 1962. They moved to and made their home in Rush Valley (Clover) in 1970. Joyce was the Rush Valley Town Clerk for many years. She was an avid reader. Joyce had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her greenhouse growing beautiful plants. She really loved the country living and all the animals that went with it. Joyce is survived by her husband Frank, daughter Teresa (Jeff) Neil, son David McAtee, brother Jay (Carol) Goldman, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Fae (Rue) Morris. A Celebration of Life will be held on Oct. 24, 2015, from 2-5 p.m. at the Best Western Inn, 365 N. Main, Tooele, Utah. Joyce will be laid to rest in the Rush Valley (Clover) Cemetery.

Obit Tammy Jean JacksonOn October 21, 2015, heaven received an angel named Tammy Jean Jackson, aged 48 years. She endured her passing the same way she lived her life — bravely. She was an incredibly selfless woman, always willing to lend a helping hand and striving to touch the lives of everyone around her. She is survived by her parents Lamar and Linda Hicks, her sister Kathy Hayford, her two brothers Troy and Lonnie Hicks, her nieces Ciara, Afton, Hannah, and Katie, her nephews Jake, Trevor, Brandon, Scott, and Brian, her three children Ashley, Crystal, and Curtis, and one grandchild, Lincoln. She will be welcomed into heaven by her grandparents, aunt Joan and uncle Frank O’Dell and their son, David, her aunt Lorian and uncle Al Stageliman, and her dog, Cordy. Obit Ray W. HaslamRay W. Haslam passed away peacefully Oct. 27, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Romilda Corradini Haslam. They were married May 14, 1949. Ray was born April 29, 1926, in Helper, Utah, to Josh and Martha Haslam.  He was the youngest of seven children. In his younger years, Ray worked as a hard rock miner. He served in the United States Army in the Pacific during World War II, where he received a purple heart. Ray retired as the Tooele County Road Supervisor in 1986 after many years of service. Ray is survived by his son, Bryan (Diane) Haslam;  grandchildren, Marlowe and Josh Mackay, Jeremy Baker, and Valentin and Kari Ramon; and great-grandchildren Van Mackay, Jack and Tessa Baker and Logan Ramon. The family would like to thank extended family and the townspeople of Stockton for their friendship and support to our parents. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, in the Tooele City Cemetery with a visitation one hour prior at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main Street, Tooele.

Obit Veldon Clyde BellVeldon C. Bell passed away Oct. 22, 2015. Veldon was born on July 11, 1941, to Klar H. Bell and Mary Leora Johnson in Spanish Fork, Utah. He married Geralyn Madson on May 31, 1963, in the Manti Temple. He is survived by his sisters, Karen Barney, Joyce Matthews, Delma Nyman, Irene Williams and Lenore Sorenson; brother Dale Taylor; aunt Janice Leavitt and uncle Keith Johnson. Veldon worked at the Tooele Army Depot retiring in 1995. A special thanks to his aunt Janice Leavitt for her loving help to him through the years. Funeral services will be held at the Valley View 8th Ward, 196 N. Pinehurst Ave., Oct. 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior.

Obit Desmond R. Ricks “Des”Desmond Ross Ricks passed away Oct. 26, 2015, while surrounded by family and friends. He was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Logan to Desmond William and Dora Christensen Ricks. Des married Frances Joy Turpin and together they raised five children. She died in a tragic accident in 1973. Des then married Helen Heuser in 1987 and had 27 years together, blending their families. Des retired after more than 31 years as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight Ways. He loved to work on old cars and built them from the ground up. Des loved his horses and spent many hours riding them in the hill above his home. He loved to play the guitar and sing songs to his grandchildren, but most of all he simply loved his family. Des is survived by his wife, Helen; children Tonya Ricks, Troy (Renee) Ricks, Torie (Bart) Golder, Trent Ricks and Tracey Carl; stepchildren Connie, Windie, Jackie (Kevin) and Shannon (Maria); 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Joy, his parents and one granddaughter. The family wishes to express their thanks to the Central Utah Veterans Home Payson for the love and care they gave to Des. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at the Lake Point Ward, Center Street and Canyon Road, Lake Point. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 South, Magna, and 10-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church prior to services. Interment: Lake Point Cemetery.
