Our Amos left his home peacefully on Aug. 28, 2015, and went to heaven to be with his brother Michael and loved ones. He was born on Aug. 23, 1963, in Tooele, Utah. He graduated in 1981 and moved to California for a short period of time. His heart was made of gold and fire — his compassion for people in need was given freely with love. He would give you his last dollar or his shirt off his back. He went as far as having a burial done for a friend who lived here in Tooele alone with no family, saying it wasn’t right to leave this world without a proper blessing and burial. Amos loved to go fishing, camping, and loved trips to Wendover. He loved to watch the Denver Broncos with his family. He cared for many and his love and compassion will be deeply missed, but his love for a child was the greatest when he brought home a beautiful boy, his son Luciano, his greatest gift of life. Preceded in death by his brother, Michael, his grandparents, Phillip and Eloisa Martinez, Modesto and Delmeria Garcia and numerous uncles and cousins. He is survived by his parents, Vincent and Erma Martinez, brother, Arthur (Pam) Martinez, sister, Rose (Richard) Perales, and Luciano, his son. Nieces and nephews, Valerie, JoAnn, Sydney, Marcus, Teresa, Marissa, Veronica, Armando, Icysis and Michael, and many great-nieces and nephews whom he loved greatly, they will now have an angel watching over them from heaven with peace. Visitation will be at St. Marguerite Catholic Church in Tooele on Thursday, Sept. 3 from 6-7 p.m. followed by the rosary from 7-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Tooele City Cemetery following mass services.

Art Clovis Vialpando
Our courageous son, brother, father, grandfather passed away on Aug. 28, 2015. Art was born to Clovis and Patricia Vialpando on Feb. 26, 1959. Being a man of a “few words,” he listened more than he spoke; however, he spoke volumes with his heart and soul by welcoming family and friends into his home, to anyone who needed a place to stay, a bite to eat, a cold drink or a mechanic to help fix his or her car. When you were at “Art’s Place,” you knew you were home, a place where “everyone knows your name,” a place where you could listen to rock or country music 24/7 and place where you could catch a whole season of Bronco-mania. Yes, Art was a Bronco fan through and through. Whether the Broncos were winning or losing, Art was there to support them all the way, which was just one sign of how Art was more than just a fair-weather fan or friend; Art was in it for the “whole game.” Art didn’t just make friends; he made friends for life! What you saw in Art is what you got: a quiet, gentle, peaceful, humble soul who made room for you there in the “Inn.” In addition to having a big heart, Art was also a mechanic, a handy man or “Mr. Fix-it” who offered his skills wherever needed, there on the job or on the home-front … and we definitely cannot forget his other good qualities: he was also tall, dark and handsome, just ask his mom, dad and all who knew him. Art is survived by his mother, Patricia Vialpando; father, Clovis Vialpando; stepmom, Helen Vialpando; brother, Rev. Kenneth Vialpando; son, Tyler Vialpando; grandson, Hayden Baker; girlfriend, Naomi Halcomb; stepbrothers, Mike and Bill Griego; stepsister, Gayla Griego; and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Viewing will be held at St. Marguerite Church on Friday, Sept. 4 from 6-8 p.m. with prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Tooele City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Art’s name to the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.aaronsmortuary.com.

Married Narges Akbarnejad from Sari, Iran, on March 28, 1966 (later divorced). Survived by two sons, Dr. Bobek Arabshahi (wife Laura) and Mazdak Arabshahi (wife Fatimah). Bobek lives with his family in Gilbert, Arizona. Mazdak lives with his family in Sari, Iran. Mathew escaped Iran’s Ayatollah regime and immigrated to the United States in 1982, living in Texas and California prior to moving to Tooele, Utah, in 1992. Mathew built numerous successful businesses in Tooele, including Designer Cabinets, Rancho Tooele Development, Endeavor Business Park, Cyrus Land Investments, and Central School LLC. As a real estate developer and home builder, Mathew developed more than 400 lots for new housing. Mathew played a key role in transitioning the closed portions of the Tooele Army Depot (1,700 acres and more than 2 million square feet of buildings) into a thriving industrial park, infusing the local economy with many millions of needed dollars. Mathew met Cindy Miller in 1996; they were close friends and dear companions for the last 20 years. He was an important father figure to her three children, Paige Lloyd Smith (husband Joshua), Eris S. Miller, and Nicole M. Mehalich, as well as Cindy’s grandchildren Braedon, Ian, lllias, and Ava Adore. Mathew was close to his cousins and other extended family, as well as many friends. Mathew’s grandchildren Diba and Zachary (Bobak) and Arash and Nastaran (Mazdak) love him and will miss him. Mathew’s parents and siblings all preceded him in death. While Mathew was regarded by many as a shrewd businessman, yet he possessed a gentle soul. He once donated $5,000 toward a new playground at Harris Elementary School. He donated the land for Rancho Tooele Park. He quietly paid university tuition expenses for several local youth, and performed many other unknown acts of local service. Mathew dreamed big. He purchased the abandoned Central School, saving the architectural icon from ruin, and transformed it into 34 beautiful apartments. Mathew embodied class in his dress and in his deportment, courtesies, and presentation. Even while pursuing the rewards of enterprise, he always kept the interests of his home, Tooele, in the fore. One’s goodness is the measure of one’s greatness. To summarize the feelings of so many, Mathew was such a good man, and we were blessed to have known him.
