Mavis Garrard Worley, age 85, passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, 2016, at her home in Provo, Utah, from age-related illness. Mavis was born July 7, 1931, in Lake Point, Utah, to Warren Joseph Garrard and Eva Shirley Garrard. Mavis attended elementary and middle school in a one-room schoolhouse in Lake Point, followed by high school at Wasatch Academy. She attended Utah State University, where she majored in home economics and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She frequently stated that she used her education everyday thereafter while raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While at Utah State University, she met her eternal companion, Samuel Rich Worley. They were married Dec. 29, 1951. Upon Sam’s completion of his military service in Korea, they settled in Utah Valley where they began raising their family. Mavis was known as Tim to her close friends and family. She thoroughly enjoyed golf, gardening and playing bridge with life-long friends. She was passionate about serving others and spent a lifetime of service to her family, church and community. She was an endearing leader in various organizations in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving the Lord. She served a mission with her husband and especially cherished their many years of temple service together. Mavis is survived by her sister Jacque Tyler; husband Samuel R. Worley; children Alice Worley Hayes (Robert), John Clyde Worley, Susan Worley Satchwell (Tony), Jill Worley Carter (Jay) and Rachelle Worley Rowberry (Darrin); 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
