Rodney Glen Lyman passed away Dec. 12, 2016, after a long, courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Rod was born March 26, 1937, in Fayette, Utah, to Glen Hunter Lyman and Lillian Mellor Lyman. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood, growing up and working on the family farm riding horses, doing chores and enjoying all homemade food including ice cream, bottled fruits and bottled carp. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. Rod graduated from Gunnison High School and married Jean Lois Petersen on Jan. 13, 1956, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He served faithfully in many callings in the LDS Church. They moved to Salt Lake City and Rod completed the Journeyman Electrician program in an amazing two years — it traditionally takes four years. He worked extraordinarily hard in the electrical field, running numerous large projects and in addition owned his own electrical business. They later made Tooele their home and raised their family, where Rod eventually built his dream home that showcased his many talents as a meticulous craftsman. He took great pride in caring for his home and yard. At this point, Jean introduced Rod to the joys of travel and travel they did. Together, they visited every U.S. state except two. He was Jean’s assistant tour guide on many trips to Branson, Missouri. They enjoyed Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Prague, the Czech Republic, China, Panama, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries and multiple cruises. None of these places compared to spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rod is survived by his wife Jean and children Steve (Julie), Mike (Cem) and Wayne (Heather). He is also survived by his grandchildren Pake (Ciera), Sharon, Josh (Alex), McKell (Kyle), Travis, Ethan, Jacob and Brianna and great-grandchildren Everett, Priya and Leif; as well as his sister Iris Lambertson and his brother Murrell Lyman. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Pauline Lyman, sister Beth Christiansen and great-granddaughter Ruby Jean Anderson. A viewing will be held Monday, Dec. 19, from 10:30-11:45 a.m. at the Tooele Stake Center at 161 E. 200 South, Tooele, Utah, with the funeral at noon. Interment at the Tooele Cemetery. Arrangements made under the direction of Tate Mortuary.
