Jay Edwin Collier, 64, of Tooele, Utah, passed away Sept. 7 at Sandy Health and Rehabilitation Center from complications with his diabetes. Jay graduated from Lehi High School in 1970. He went on to serve in the Gulf States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1971-73). Upon his return home, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and transferred to the 19th Special Forces in 1980. Jay married his first wife in 1979 and had three children. After they divorced, he maintained full custody of his children. In 1990, he met and married Mary Young, and they had three more children. Jay loved the outdoors and serving in his various church callings. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother. He is survived by his wife Mary Collier; six children: Lola, Jayson, Jayne, Nathaneal, Lehi and Elizabeth; and nine grandchildren. A viewing will be held Monday, Sept. 12, at 9:30 a.m. at the Tooele 14th Ward building (192 W. 200 South) with the funeral at 11 a.m. At times like this we take comfort in our faith, in Jesus Christ, who is the redeemer of the world.
