Obit Rosella (Ella) Upp“Each life that touches ours for good…” Those words from the tender same-named hymn describes the life our beautiful Rosella (Ella) Upp shared with us during her matchless 75 years here on Earth. She was born in Randolph, Utah, on Sept. 23, 1944, to parents she loved dearly. Ella was a motherly big sister to two brothers and three sisters, whom she much helped raise when her mother unexpectedly passed away when Ella was a teenager. When Ella grew older, she married her sweetheart, Gregory Upp, on July 12, 1968; they gratefully solemnized their forever love in the Provo Utah Temple on May 7, 1980. By example, Ella taught her three beautiful children about the simple and lovely realities they could expect in life, as well as having taught them how to endure trying times. Ella completely loved all her grandchildren and always wanted to know the ins and outs of their life happenings; she especially enjoyed the humorous circumstances that often came up during any given week.

All the days of her life, Ella clung to a stalwart nature that gave her strength and compassion, which she speedily shared with everyone, regardless of their station in life. These endearing characteristics speak greatly of how grounded Ella was. She was completely and thoroughly true, from her unwavering friendship and love as a daughter, sister, niece, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend to her devout faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ella’s hallmark was cultivating relationships; more than anything, she enjoyed her ties to humanity and could drum up conversation with anyone. Ella loved. Every day, she loved. How grateful her family feels for being the beneficiaries of her selflessness, love, sacrifice, and fight. Ella was a woman without compare, and she will be missed until that blessed day when those she leaves behind will get to embrace her again. Thank you, Mom, for touching our lives for good. We love you more than you will ever know.

Ella joined her heavenly loved ones Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019; she reunited with her sweetheart Greg, two sons, Marshall and Darell; parents, Blaine and Una; brother, Walter; and others who were excited to welcome her home. Ella is survived by her children, Monique James (Billy), Alicia Koos (Shaun), and Kevin Upp (Marcy); grandchildren, Dustin, Shantelle (James), Amber, Alizabeth, Austin, Sydney, Braden, Caleb, Marshall, Mason, and Maxwell; and siblings, Doug Marshall (Ada), Eva Russon (Neil), Cleone Lee (Kenny), and Valerie Bock (Tim).

Ella’s family would like to give a very special thanks to all the incredible and loving staff at Sagewood at Daybreak, as well as the very caring people at Canyon Hospice. The viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., with the funeral following at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, at Sagewood at Daybreak, 11289 Oakmond Rd., South Jordan, Utah. Graveside service will be held at Tooele City Cemetery on Wednesday Dec. 11, 2019, at 1 p.m.

Son, husband, father, grandpa, and friend, these were a few of the titles you were known as to many of us. Most importantly, you were a person who was loved so very much and brought so much happiness to the many hearts you touched. May we always remember you for your witty commentary when it was least expected. Your ability to give everyone and everything a nickname (even if they didn’t always make sense). If help was needed, it came so freely from you – whether it was building, fixing something, or just answering the “I don’t know, maybe Richard/Dad knows?” questions. You were always there by our sides. You taught us valuable life lessons by your example. The value of hard work, good judgement, courage, integrity and how to be determined and never give up (even if you were stubborn at times). Your goal was always to provide the best to those you loved. You loved unconditionally and were always genuinely proud of your family. May we carry these lessons with us forever. You were a gift to all the world, but having your love was the best gift. We all hope you know how much you meant to us. Love, Sis

Forever in our hearts, Pops!

Guy Easton Hollar

Obit Guy Easton Hollar8/27/1990 – 12/03/2019

Guy passed away Dec. 3 from injuries he sustained in a car accident on Thanksgiving afternoon in  Washington County where he was living and working.

Our hearts are broken. Guy was such a wonderful child and person and from what we’ve seen he was loved by many. Guy had his demons that made his life hard and he was working hard to control them but it was a tough battle. It helped a lot that he had people around him who cared for him while he was away from home. One family that was helping Guy was Ken and Terry Steelman and their sons Kenny and Cory. They welcomed Guy into their home and he was headed there for Thanksgiving dinner when the accident happened. We are forever grateful for the home and family they were to Guy while he was there.

Guy also found a job that allowed him to work with troubled youth as an aide at care facilities. He said the work was hard seeing the problems they had and helped him to see his issues differently, but he truly loved being there with the youth and was hoping he could find a way to make this his life work.

We would like to express our love to many of the people whom Guy grew up with and were lifelong friends of his: Robert Perkes, Marcus Pacheo, his cousin Spencer Cluff, Jerron Barraclough,  Justin Vineyard, and Mary Gardner. We cannot list all the many others who loved Guy.

Guy is survived by his parents, Michael and Cindy Hollar; his brother, Travis; and sisters, Elizabeth and Alisha; and his grandmother, Colleen Bennion; and by many cousins on both sides who dearly loved him. He was greeted after his death by his sister, Suzanne; and grandparents, Rex P. Bennion, Boyce Hollar, Yvonne Gillette Hollar Norton.

He was thrown from the car, found unconscious and rushed to Dixie Regional Medical Center where they found he had severe trauma to his brain stem, and was in a coma and never woke up.

After consulting with the doctors and staff treating him about what his future could be and having talked with Guy previously about a situation like this we made the decision to remove life support. We were told that it could take up to 10 days or more for Guy to pass but he passed away 6 hours after the ventilator was removed, which we believe means the injury was much worse than thought.

Burial of Guy’s ashes will be Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at 2 p.m., where Guy will be interned with his sister Suzy, at a graveside service in the Tooele City Cemetery. A family and friends lunch will take place Dec. 28, 2019, at 1 p.m., at the Skyline Ward Church, 777 Skyline Dr., Tooele, to share memories and photos of Guy.

We are so grateful to everyone who helped Guy through the years, you all are forever in our hearts.

Please give your children a hug and tell them you love them and to WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS!

Arrangements in care of Dalton-Hoopes Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Online condolences and memories may be shared at daltonhoopes.com.

She attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, where she met her future husband Richard Scott. They were married in 1962 and had three daughters.

As a pastor’s wife, she loved playing the piano, teaching Sunday School and organizing all church activities. She loved Christmas programs, vacation Bible School, pot lucks, and doing everything to help promote unity in the church. In 1975 Richard joined the United States Army as a Chaplain. In 1994 they left the Army and moved to Idaho. She once again was busy with two churches now; one in Preston and one in Malad. They were there for five years before moving to Brigham City where they remained for 17 years. She loved the people and the ministry she had there. In 2006 they started traveling to Lake Havasu City for five months out of the year. It wasn’t long before she got involved in Hymn Sing, which was a small church service for the snowbirds at Crazy Horse campground. They kept busy almost every day of the week. Ann made friends wherever she went. She was greatly blessed by them and brought joy to others. We will all miss her.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Scott; daughters, Teresa King (Roy), Dawn Howsden (Mike), Rebecca Lewis (Mason); grandchildren, Lauren Kelly (Caleb), Shannon Lee (Chris), Alexis Chadwick (Preston), Andrea Howsden, Scott Howsden, Maci Lewis and Jessica Lewis; and great-grandchildren, Eevee Chadwick, Kara Kelly, and Skylie Chadwick.

Obit Raymond and Karen PehrsonOur beloved parents Raymond Floyd Pehrson and Ida Karen Howell Pehrson passed away as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Raymond was born June 14, 1930, and died Dec. 15, 2019, at the age of 89. Karen was born Sept. 17, 1936, and died Dec. 16, 2019, at the age of 83.

They were married for 60 years and just recently celebrated their anniversary with family and friends; a couple that couldn’t be separated, even in death. They were exceptionally kind and caring people and made an impact on many people during their lives. As a family, we are devastated by this loss, but find comfort in the knowledge that they are together forever.

They are survived by their six children: Kim Pehrson (Kimberly Johnson), Chris Pehrson (Christy), Scott Pehrson (Amy), Betsy Cummings (Ken, deceased), Carl Pehrson and Bryant Pehrson (Terri); sisters Helen Pehrson and Barbara Jackson; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at 1 p.m., at the LDS church in Vernon, Utah. A viewing will preced the funeral from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Vernon City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Huntsman Cancer Institute or any charity of your choice. Share condolences at www.brownfamilymortuary.com.
