Renate Doltgen Medina

My wonderful mom, Renate, was born Sept. 23, 1939, to Willhelmina Doltgen and Werner Fischer in Augsburg, Germany. She passed away on July 20, 2018, in Tooele, Utah.

My wonderful dad, Roy, was born on Oct. 11, 1935, to Maria Gertrude and Guillermo Medina in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico. He passed away on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, in Tooele, Utah.

They met and were married on Sept. 2, 1960, in Augsburg, Germany. They were married for 58 years and lived the majority of their lives in Tooele.

My dad served in the United States Army for six years and was honorably discharged in 1962. He worked for Tooele Army Depot and retired after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and watching the Broncos play.

My mother worked for several companies throughout her lifetime and retired when my dad did. She enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo.

Together they enjoyed traveling, fishing and taking care of their yard. They were members of St. Marguerite Catholic Church. They were blessed with and raised two children: Elizabeth and William.

They are survived by: daughter, Elizabeth (Butch) Downey; grandchildren, Diana (JT) Neebling, Jennie (Kara) Downey, Trey Downey and Kenneth Medina; great-grandson, Kash Cahill; Roy’s brothers, Nabor, Gene and Richard Medina; Roy’s sister, Ida Maestas; sister-in-law, Cree Medina; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by their only son, William Medina; their parents, several sisters, many sisters-in-law and one of Roy’s brothers.

I would like to thank the staff at Rocky Mountain Health Care for taking care of my mother for the two years prior to her passing and for the few months that my father was in their care. I would also like to thank hospice for assisting me during this very difficult time. A special “Thank You” to my uncles for their love, support and dedication to my father, mother and myself.

There will be a visitation and Rosary at St. Marguerite Catholic Church on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, with visitation from 6-7 p.m. and Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be at St. Marguerite Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to services.

My parents lived their lives for each other and will now be laid to rest together. May they Rest in Paradise … Never forget to remember that I Love You.

Doloras Jean “Jeanie” Towle Drinville

Obit Doloras Drinville 1Doloras Jean “Jeanie” Towle was born to Amos Eli Towle and Clarice Elma (Buffington) at home on July 1, 1932, in Furnas County, Nebraska. She was the youngest of three children. She died on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, in Olympia, Washington. She was 86 years of age.

Jeanie attended elementary school in Furnas County, Nebraska, and graduated from high school in Vallejo, California. It was while working at the Benicia Army Arsenal that she met and later married Jack Drinville, the love of her life, on June 29, 1952. To this union were born four children: Debra Ann, Gayle Marie, Betsy Jean and Jacki.

The family lived in Benicia, California, until they moved to Tooele, Utah, in 1961. During her working years, Jeanie volunteered/worked at East Elementary School, and as the secretary at Stansbury Park Elementary School. After retirement, she volunteered for numerous organizations, including St. Marguerite Catholic Church, where she was an active member.

Jeanie was an avid golfer, and won several championships on numerous occasions. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and time with family and friends. She had a lively sense of humor, and was a woman who met life with a sense of duty, insight and a bit of spice, within the bounds of being a lady.

Along with Jack, Jeanie enjoyed exploring the back roads, finding rock, mineral and crystal specimens, and working on lapidary projects from their discoveries, making rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. In their winter home in St. George, Jack and Jeanie created a desert cactus arboretum, which grew from small plantings and samples to large examples of varieties. Jeanie enjoyed the beauty of nature in the desert, as well as in mountain settings. She found a peace within the beauty of creation, which extended her understanding of faith and wonder.

We kids loved coming home from school, coming around the corner and smelling her dinner cooking on the stove from half a block away. She was a good cook. Christmas dinner was at Mom and Dad’s house for many years because no one wanted to miss out on her turkey with all the trimmings, and especially her pumpkin pies with heaps of good, old fashioned, real whipped cream.

Though Jeanie never played a musical instrument, she had favorite songs and musicians such as Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart,” and we would all sing and dance around the house singing at the top of our lungs while Dad just sat and shook his head.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her daughters, Gayle and Jacki. She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughters, Debra Ralston and Betsy (Mike) Bacon; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many of her friends.

A memorial service will be held in Olympia, Washington. A Catholic Mass and interment will be held at St. Marguerite Catholic Church in Tooele, Utah, on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at 11 a.m.

Memorials to Jeanie are suggested to be given to St. Marguerite Catholic Church Memorial Fund, or the American Cancer Society.Obit Doloras Drinville 2

He was born to Leander Enoch Hill and Fordelia Annie Ion Terkleson on July 13, 1944. He was second to the youngest of 10 children: Lucille, Dale, Glenn, James, Doris, Norma, Darlene, Annalee and Juanita.

Dave drove semi trucks for a living for many years. He later changed over to diesel mechanics for 20 years until retirement. He loved to build fast cars and fast motorcycles and he loved to trade, hunt and shoot guns. All the kids loved whenever he came around to see what he had to trade. He was also known as a great storyteller and told funny jokes.

He was also the fixer in the family. If anybody had a problem, he could figure it out and get the job done. He may have had to think about it for a bit, but he always found a solution. He never found anything that he couldn’t fix.

He loved his family very much and loved to tease and play with the children. He loved being around his grandchildren. They lit up his eyes and enjoyed every tea party, every sword fight and every fingernail painting session.

He was very proud of the show cars that he built with the help of his family and his friends.

Obit Diane Lee 1Diane Lee, our loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, valiantly completed her battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Nov. 6, 2018, and returned to her Heavenly Father and many loved ones on the other side.

Obit Diane Lee 2Diane was born in Tooele, Utah, on March 30, 1945, to Milton Willard Lee and Mary Ruth Tate Lee. Diane spent most of her life in Tooele, Utah, where she graduated from Tooele High School. She married Leland Herbert (Biff) Groskreutz and had two sons, Todd and Biff. Diane and Biff later divorced. She married John Wayne Miller and had her third son, Johnny. Diane and John also later divorced. She lived in Kaiserslautern, Germany, for 5 years with her family and had many great memories from this time in her life. Diane retired from Tooele Army Depot after 30 years of service in the Procurement Department where she received many honors and awards.

After retirement, she moved to St. George where she enjoyed being close to her family and made many amazing friends. She loved spending hours each day watering her flowers and walking her beloved dogs — Annee and Luci — around the neighborhood. She loved volunteering at Arrowhead Elementary in a kindergarten classroom taught by her friend, Jackie. She was very involved in her ward and served in the Relief Society organization as the secretary. She developed an increased love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and loved serving and helping others.

She spent her last few years at Alta Ridge Memory Care in Sandy, Utah, where she resided until her passing. Words cannot express our love and appreciation to the caring staff who often went above and beyond to care for our sweet mother. She loved them and they loved her. Thank you to our hospice angel nurse, Lindsay, who saw us through some very dark and difficult days.

Diane’s greatest legacy was her ability to love unconditionally. She would do anything for anyone. She would always greet you with a smile and a hug. She was always so grateful for all her blessings — mostly her sons and her family. She loved game shows, coloring, word searches, and card games. No one could escape a visit to Diane’s without at least one round of cards.

Diane was the proud mother of three sons: Todd (Laura) Groskreutz, Draper, Utah; Biff (Julie) Groskreutz, Stockton, Utah; and John (Caprice) Miller, Santa Clara, Utah. She has three amazing women in her life who she was lucky enough to call her sisters and friends: Kathy Whitehouse, Kandy (Mike) Walters, and Debbie (Jeff) Norton. She has 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all who lovingly called her GG.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Belle Johannessen; her brother, Jerry Lee; a grandson, Cole Miller; a great-granddaughter, Havyn Lee Groskreutz; and her beloved mini Schnauzer, Annee, who was her companion for 17 years.
