Obit David James BrownOn the morning of Sept. 2, 2016, David passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Tooele, Utah after a courageous battle with cancer. David was born on Feb. 22, 1946, in Mount Moriah, Michigan to Hubert and Zelma Brown. He was the fifth child of nine. David graduated from Wahtonka High in The Dalles, Oregon in 1964 where he met the love of his life, Donna. He was a dedicated craftsman who worked with concrete in the construction industry from which he retired. He couldn’t stay busy being retired once he completed all of the upgrades to the inside and outside of his home (which included lots of concrete), so he went back to work part-time at Walmart in Tooele, Utah. David loved to go camping, fishing and bowling; he almost bowled that elusive 300 game on several occasions. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends whenever possible. There weren’t too many people who could cook quite like him, and he liked to cook for family and friends. During the holiday season, he spent months every year preparing numerous types of candy, mostly chocolate for his loved ones (The Candyman can). He was preceded in death by his father Hubert, his mother Zelma and his brother Randall. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna; his daughters Debbie (Louie) Morrow and Darsie (Tom) Pulliam; as well as nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, Ronnie Brown, Conrad Brown, Russell Brown and Stephen Brown; three sisters, Tessie Koester, Linda Brown and Betty Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. Because of his quick and contagious smile, the sparkle in his eyes, his quick wit and work ethic, most of the people he worked with over the years also became his extended family. There will be a gathering held on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016 at the Vista House in Corbett, Oregon for all who want to attend.

Obit Jimmy StevensonOn Friday, Aug. 26, we were forced to say goodbye to our beloved Papa, Dad, husband, relative and dear friend to so many. Jimmy Stevenson, 47, is survived by his wife Orsenia “Jo” Lohman, daughter Chaplene “Chapa” (Alex) Lopez, his two beautiful grandkids who meant the world to him, and too many family members to list — each one so dear to his heart. He is deeply loved by all those who knew him. He was so full of life and fun-loving that to know him was to love him. He enjoyed many hobbies and activities — a few of his favorite included fishing, hunting, cooking, metal and woodworking, camping and boating. Above all else, he loved spending every second he could with his granddaughter and grandson who he affectionately called his “babies.” He lived his life for them and his entire family. He was an extraordinary man and his sudden loss has been devastating to us all. He will be sorely missed. We will be holding a celebration of life service Saturday, Sept. 10, at 3 p.m. at the Rush Valley Town Hall with a luncheon afterwards. Obit Raymond Paul ThompsonRaymond Paul Thompson, 55, better known as “Paul” to his friends and family, and jokingly as “Poly-Frog” or “Frog,” died peacefully in his sleep at home of natural causes on Sept. 10, 2016. Paul was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Dec. 11, 1960, to Claud LeRoy and Carol (Golden) Thompson. Paul attended school in Granger, and one year of college while in the Army. He was a member of the LDS Church. Paul lived in Salt Lake City most of his life with the exception of his time spent in the U.S. Army. He moved to Tooele, Utah in 2009. Paul had many wonderful nieces and nephews who adored him. Paul was a gentle soul with an adventurous spirit; he loved fishing, hiking, camping, biking, and cooking, but mostly he loved his nieces and nephews. Paul was always quick to give you a strong bear hug and tell you he loved you. He loved the neighbors and enjoyed making and giving out special cakes for birthdays, water fights in the street, and passing out treats such as popsicles, etc. to the kids. Paul enjoyed NASCAR, with Dale Earnhardt being his favorite, and all types of racing. He loved all of his own cars and detailing them, especially his 1984 silver Corvette, western music, his large collection of frogs and his two special little four-legged friends Buddy and Augie. Paul was a true warrior when his brother became ill and was unable to care for himself; he watched over us and did everything he could to help out, including chores, errands, yard care, grocery shopping and cooking and literally taking care of his mother and brother, whose company he enjoyed greatly. Paul’s contagious smile and laughter will be missed along with his friendly greetings to all. Everybody loved to be around Paul. Paul is survived by his mother, his brother Steve and his sister Janice Worsley. He is preceded in death by all of his grandparents, his father, his brother Larry and his nieces Jeanie (Princess) and Leisa (Bambi). Paul, you will be greatly missed and we will miss your warm compassionate way you have of welcoming in company, neighbors, friends, and family. Everyone loved to be around you Paul. “You are a damn good brother and a loyal friend.” “You know how I feel about you and I am at peace.” “You are without a doubt, the sweetest person in the whole world.” We’re sure you are enjoying your reunion with Larry and Dad, but your separation from us is leaving a big hole in our hearts. We will all be together again and have a real big reunion. Save a big hug for all of us. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the LDS 26th Ward Chapel, 1000 W. Utah Ave., Tooele, UT 84074. There will be a visitation one hour prior to service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow at Tooele City Cemetery, 361 S. 100 East, Tooele, Utah.

Although Kyle’s physical condition made him appear frail, he possessed strength and perseverance to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage, he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football. One of the highlights of his life came when he had the opportunity to meet the BYU football team, his favorite. Kyle loved attending any type of birthday party or celebration. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings, who were determined to accommodate his needs and always included him. He had a special bond with his brother, Wyatt, who was his best friend. He was his Dad’s “little buddy,” as they shared a love for cars and law enforcement. Kyle was his family’s ground source for peace and support. They enjoyed lying next to him and snuggling him with him as he provided the most sincere Christ-like comfort. Prior to his passing, he and his family had just returned from his “Make a Wish,” a dream vacation to Walt Disney World, where they were able to enjoy precious time together and made memories they will keep in their hearts forever. Kyle’s spirit engulfed not only his immediate family, but also his extended family and all those that came into contact with him. His smile and laughter could melt the hearts of those around him and though he never spoke a word, his voice and thoughts could always be heard. Kyle leaves behind many wonderful caregivers who provided love and support that enhanced his quality of life and because of them, he was able to survive some of his toughest medical challenges. All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided him with love and dignity his entire life. Kyle is dearly loved by his family. His selfless, tender ways will be deeply missed. Well done Kyle, “thou good and faithful servant.”

Kyle is survived by his parents, Reg and Sherrie Labrum; brothers Wyatt, Dylan and Ryker and sisters Sydnee and Kynlee, all of Tooele; his grandparents Bill and Lynette Labrum of Roosevelt and Dan and Peggy Howell of Kemmerer, Wyoming; aunts and uncles Linzi (Matt) Garner, Russ (Michelle) Labrum, Shay (Shane) Uresk, Tammy (Greg) Snow, Blake (Michelle) Howell and Brian (Melissa) Howell; great-grandma Rose Robertson and numerous cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles.
