Obit Ronald Raymond Williams1938 – 2020

Ronald Raymond Williams, our kind, loving, and always optimistic husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed peacefully from this life Nov. 4, 2020, at his home in Bountiful, Utah. He was born Nov. 30, 1938, in Tooele, Utah, to George Leonard and Ruth Barber Williams, the third of seven children.

Ron married his sweetheart, Gloria Jean Maxfield, Nov. 25, 1959, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a devoted father to the four sons that joined their family. The best work he did in life was teaching those around him through his example of Christlike love and caring. We were blessed to be in his circle of family and friends. Ron was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He looked forward to the annual father and son fishing trip — the last one being just two months ago. He loved his family, basketball, BYU sports, and Yellowstone.

Ron is survived by his loving wife Gussie; sons Darin (Sue), Tyler (Jasmin), Jeremy (Jennifer), Bump (Erin); 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brother Mark Williams; and sister Ann LaPointe. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Paul, LaMar, and Greg; sister Shari; and granddaughter Adara.

Private family services will were held Monday, Nov. 9, 2020. Interment was at the Bountiful City Cemetery. Go Cougs! Condolences may be shared at www.lindquistmortuary.com.

Obit Helen Kathleen Coucher GriffithHelen Kathleen Coucher Griffith passed away peacefully Nov. 12, 2020. She was born Nov. 24, 1929, to Robert William and Helen Lauretta Coucher in Tooele, Utah, where she resided her entire life. While growing up in Tooele she made many lifelong friends.

Kathleen married Richard Knowlton Griffith on May 23, 1951. They had three children, Cary, Elizabeth and Robert, and together they devoted their lives to raising their family and being great examples of love and hard work.

Mom lived a life of service to her fellow human beings and was a member of Saint Marguerite Catholic Church. She served as an ombudsman for the State of Utah, assisting those in need. She volunteered as a member of the Tooele Hospital Board and performed community service through Beta Sigma Phi, the Tooele Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and the Utah State Women’s Legislative Council. She supported many charitable organizations. Through her service in these organizations she was blessed to meet many special people and new friends who remained very dear to her throughout her life.

Mom’s greatest love was for her family! Her parents, brothers, husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly all she needed in her life to be happy. She was also blessed with a large extended family that she loved dearly. She always said that even though she didn’t have a sister she was blessed with special sisters-in-law who became her sisters and best friends.

She loved to learn about anything and everything new as most recently evidenced by her mastery of Facebook, email, Instagram, Amazon and the latest iPhone. She was determined to stay connected and current! She enjoyed the beauty of nature around her. The song “It’s a Wonderful World” summed up her awe and appreciation of our world.

Mom left these thoughts for us to share with all of you who loved her and helped her live a full and joyous life:

And on the way

We laughed, we cried

We lived, I died

What an interesting journey it was!

To each of you who chose to walk

A while with me, whether for a day, a week,

A month, a year or decades, I thank you.

You enriched my life.

You buoyed me up in my darkest hours,

You brought love, life, laughter and joy

Making my happy days even happier.

I loved you then, I love you now

My love will be with you through eternity.

Love, Mom, Grandma, Nana, Aunt, Friend

Kathleen is survived by her son Robert (Patty) Griffith and her daughter Elizabeth (Richard) Reed; grandchildren Lance Griffith, Amanda (George) Karabatsos, Aubrey (Cache) Summers, Nate Griffith, Jenny (Gilbert) Rojas, Jessi (Nate) Starley, Heidi (James) Anderson, and Hilary Skoglund; great-grandchildren Chase (Cree) Roberts, Hannah, Autumn and Kolbe Anderson, Paxton, Kruz and Leota Karabatsos, Tarek and Oliver Rojas, and Ruby Helen Starley.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard K. Griffith, her son Richard Cary Griffith, her parents and her brothers Robert G. Coucher and Edward H. Coucher. These and many others whom she loved are undoubtedly greeting her with open arms. In our time of sorrow, we are grateful for the thought of this happiness and joyful reunion.

The family will have private services in accordance with Mom’s wishes. We thank everyone for the support, sympathy and strength we have received.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Primary Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice. Mom would be honored and pleased.

Obit Joyce Reynolds RydalchJoyce Reynolds Rydalch, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.

Joyce was born May 8, 1927, to Leonard and Charlotte Maze Reynolds in Stockton, Utah. She attended Tooele High School and graduated in 1945. On Nov. 19, 1947, she married Donald Walters and, together, they welcomed two children, Linda and Lorey. Don passed away March 14, 1952, leaving Joyce a widowed young mother. She married Clyde Ronald (Chug) Rydalch on March 29, 1958, and they welcomed their son George.

Joyce was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she loved her calling in the Primary most of all. She was very creative and loved to make homemade items for her friends and family. Her Primary kids received homemade stuffed animals for Christmas and the grandchildren received handmade gifts which were cherished by all. She had so many talents, but the one she used the most was crocheting and she made the most beautiful afghans as well as fun stuffed animals and slippers. All of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren received the special gift of a custom afghan upon graduating from high school. She still crocheted for many years after losing her sight and they were just as beautiful.

Joyce was always hard working and independent. As a teen she delivered milk from the family farm. After graduating from high school, she worked as a switchboard operator at Utah Power and Light. After becoming a widow, she worked at Dugway Proving Grounds. Later, she worked at Dairy Queen to put her daughter through nursing school.

Family was the most important thing in the world for Joyce. She loved being home, was always there for her family, and was so generous with her love and time. She always said she didn’t have a lot of money but she had everything she needed and lived a simple life. She did get the opportunity to travel throughout the US and the Caribbean attending Chug’s Navy reunions almost every year for several decades and got to see some exciting places.

Joyce is survived by her children Linda (Randy) Sloan and George Rydalch; sisters Marva (Frank) Aufdemorte, Sharlene Aufdemorte, and Kaye (Jack) Hollien; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Don, beloved husband Chug, son Lorey Walters, brother Earl Reynolds, and sisters Delores Caldwell and Wilma McMillan.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, at the Grantsville City Cemetery.

Obit Nicolette Marie StriebyNicolette Marie Strieby (Nikki) unexpectedly passed away Nov. 14, 2020, at the age of 28. Nikki was born in Tooele County on Sept. 3, 1992, to Judy Ashcraft and Peter Strieby. Nikki was adopted at the age of 11 by her Mama Dee after her mother Judy passed away. Nikki grew up in South Jordan with her Mama Dee who was an amazing mom to Nikki and her sister Courtney whom she had a very special bond with. Mama Dee and Nikki were inseparable until Mama Dee passed away in 2010.

Nikki had suffered from epilepsy for many years. Although she had this debilitating condition, Nikki did everything she could to live life to the fullest.

Nikki loved dogs and loved traveling. Nikki was an avid volunteer working with disabled children. She volunteered at local animal shelters and the Christmas Box House. Nikki had a thirst for knowledge and looked for every opportunity to have a life adventure. She was pure love and light, positive about everything, the most affectionate, loving person and truly had a heart of gold. Anyone who knew Nikki could attest that she left a lasting impression on you. She loved with every ounce of her soul and always left or ended a conversation with “I love you.”

Nikki loved spending time with her brother Raymond and his wife Lela in Colorado. Raymond took the role as a second dad to her and taught her how to fish, hunt and enjoy the outdoors. Nikki said Colorado brought her so much peace and every morning would sit on the deck with her favorite Rockstar in her hand.

Nikki always took the time to call all her siblings; she always wanted them to know she loved them. She always knew that tomorrow wasn’t promised and never missed an opportunity to let those she loved know how much they meant to her. Nikki was very close with her brothers and sisters, each sharing memorable and significant life experiences with Nikki bonding them for life.

Nikki had many special friends in her life and many people helped Nikki along the way. Nikki made friends anywhere she went and was accepting of everyone. Nikki never passed judgment on anyone, and if you were lucky to receive her love, it was purely unconditional.

Nikki is survived by her siblings whom she loved so much: Kathy Aragon, Raymond Ashcraft, Aaron Ashcraft, Chastity Lopez, Chad Ashcraft, Courtney Balduck, Casey Ashcraft, and Chasity Wooley; and many special nieces and nephews. Nikki is also survived by her very special Godmother Annie Graham whom she loved so much and would go to Tooele to the Home Town Bakery to see and get penny candy.

Nikki was proceeded in death by her mother Judy, her Mama Dee, her nephew Fernando Cruz, her father Peter Strieby, and her grandmother Helen Graham.

Nikki, we as a family and our lives will never be the same without you. A piece of our puzzle is missing and can’t be replaced. We are blessed and thankful for the time we had with you and we take comfort knowing that you are in good hands with Mom and Mama Dee. Now you can rest easy baby sis, pet all the dogs you want and have as many of them you want, drive a car, rock climb and do all the things you couldn’t do in this life. Fly High Baby Girl!

Through all this heartbreak of losing Nikki, we take comfort knowing that Nikki was a registered organ donor and her passing saved many people’s lives. Her beautiful spirit and soul will continue to live on in others.

Due to the circumstances around COVID and gathering restrictions, a private celebration of life to honor Nikki will be held by the family in a private setting.

Frances Mary Yeaman

Frances Mary Yeaman, 89, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020. Born to her Italian immigrant parents Antonio and Santa Scandura in Chicago, Illinois, on Sept. 8, 1931, Frances would tell many early childhood memories of walking around Chicago enjoying all the sites and splendors that a big city would have to offer; she loved to walk! One of her favorite childhood memories she would recount was being in the 6th grade and navigating her way from her home on Scott Street to the then downtown Walgreens to bus tables for tips!

Later on and nearby, at the Great Lakes Army Recruitment Center, via mutual friends setting them up, Frances met the man she would marry, Donald L. Yeaman, an Idaho boy, around the time of the start of the Korean Conflict.

Frances and Don enjoyed dancing and going out with their friends and were members of several fraternal organizations, at one time or another, including Elks, Eagles, and Moose lodges plus various veterans/military organizations. In these organizations Frances also found another favorite past-time, BINGO!!!

As being a military wife and later a civil servant’s wife, Frances and Don moved around America a lot: Davenport, Iowa; Madison Heights, Michigan; Tooele, Utah (1950s); Martinsburg, West Virginia (1970s); Tooele, Utah (1980s); and finally beautiful Pocatello, Idaho, for the last 30 years.

While in Pocatello, Frances and Don discovered the beautiful and natural wonders of the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park. They would take several trips to Lamar Valley looking for wolves and of course she never missed the opportunity to spot a bear. Frances and Don were very active and outdoorsy for most of their life.

Frances was humble, loving, kind and generous. She looked forward to growing her garden each year so that she could share her crop with those in need through The Salvation Army. Frances was a charitable woman and would give her last dollar to help someone out.

She is survived by her daughter Mary and Rogers Grubbs (Martinsburg, West Virginia); son Don L. Yeaman (Duchene, Utah); son Charles and Pat Yeaman (Tooele, Utah); son  Vincent Yeaman (Colorado); son Glen and Candy Yeaman (Pocatello, Idaho); daughter Gina and Mike Hanford (Woodstock, Georgia); son Joe and Stefane Yeaman (Pocatello, Idaho); 38 grandkids; and scores of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Donald L. Yeaman Sr.; her parents Antonio and Santa Scandura; her daughter Sandy Hawthrone; her infant son Robert A. Yeaman; and her older brothers Freddy, Carlo, Dominic, Joey, and Vince Scandura; and her older sister Angie Cura.

Most of all, Frances was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Our family’s matriarch will be honored and carried close to our hearts until the day we are reunited in spirit. Thanks Mom! Love you, miss you and we will see you soon!

Services will be held at a later date. Condolences may be made at www.colonial-funeralhome.com, 208-233-1500.

Lane Marshall

Obit Lane MarshallOn Sunday, Nov. 22, at 9:36 a.m. Lane Marshall passed away after a 16-month battle with a very rare and aggressive type of cancer. She was born Dec. 18, 1959, in Birmingham, Alabama, and moved to Safford, Arizona, shortly after, but she always considered herself a Texas native, having lived her teen years, early twenties and given birth to her first child in Dallas. Anyone who knew her, knows how strong-minded and determined she was with nearly any goal she set to accomplish… unfortunately this battle with cancer was one she just couldn’t win.

Lane was a lifelong educator, who proudly dedicated almost 20 years to the Tooele County School District as a teacher, and later after getting her master’s degree, becoming the principal of Anna Smith Elementary in Wendover.

Lane was crass, bold, sensitive, intuitive and above all… hilarious! She gave us all so many laughs every single day and we will treasure her A+ humor for our entire lives. She had two children, Lafe Jordan Stewart and Kassidi Kay Stewart, and two grandchildren, Tripton and Trey, whom she loved bigger than the sky. She loved her mother, Joan Woods (Gober) dearly and talked to her nearly every day, as well as her father Steve Marshall, aunt Kay Woods-Ravine and little sister Lori Van Dreal… she also had far too many other relatives to name, who lit up her world and made her day any time she’d speak with them. In recent years, she missed her late brother Tony Marshall terribly, as well as her long-time companion Penny (our family dog who quickly became solely her dog). The silver lining in all this is how much she looked forward to seeing them on the other side. Family was one of her greatest treasures.

Getting together with “the girls” for bunko, concerts, cocktails and sleepovers were the joy of her life, as well as laying out by the pool in the summer, lots of time with her grandson Tripton, and doing just about anything with her best friend Gina Ruiz. She was looking forward to retirement and living in the sunny Arizona weather in the future, although she was surrounded with the warmth of love by so many here in the mountains of Utah where she lived and raised her family for over half her life.

Our hearts are broken, and we already miss her so much but we’re also thankful she gets to be (as she put it) “herself again.” Lafe and Kassidi are so grateful to all those who have been part of this difficult time for the last year especially the team at IHC in Murray, Utah, and Hospice of the Valley in Scottsdale, Arizona, who gave her hope, dignity and extended her life beyond all expectations. If you’d like to give something in her honor, Hospice of the Valley in Arizona are literal angels.

Lane’s wish after leaving this world was to be cremated, and in doing so (due to COVID) a formal memorial service for all who wish to attend will be held at a later date, outside in the warm, open air. Most likely during her favorite time… summer.

Obit Michael Paul Trappett LearyOn Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, after battling health issues for many long years, Michael Paul Trappett Leary, our beloved husband, father, son and brother passed away at his residence in Tooele, Utah. As a family we are grateful for the man that he was and the lessons he taught us throughout the years. We will miss the good things about him, but we are grateful he is no longer suffering or in pain from the horrible illnesses that so severely impacted his body, spirit and mind.

Michael was born April 1, 1969, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Verna L. Hancock and David S. Leary. Verna and David divorced when he was a child. Michael was later adopted and raised by his stepfather, Bud L. Trappett.

Michael grew up in Bingham County, Idaho, raising livestock and farming. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and riding horses. He loved the outdoors and being in wide open spaces. He loved all of God’s creations and throughout his life he cherished, took care of and respected them. There wasn’t an animal Michael didn’t love and didn’t have in his house at one time or another.

Michael moved from Idaho to Cache Valley, Utah, in 1986. He graduated from Logan High School in 1987. He met Donilyn Lemon Leary in 1988 while working at Burger King in Logan, Utah. He would always say meeting Donilyn was the best prize in any meal. Michael and Donilyn were married Feb. 17, 1989, in the Logan LDS temple. Together they have three children, Alleissa A. Leary, Mikylee D. Leary and Brott M. Leary.

Michael was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved to help others and serve where he could. As a young man, Michael was called to serve an LDS mission in Munich, Germany. A back injury prevented him from serving in Germany, but he served the Lord in the Logan temple for the remainder of his mission. He has also held many callings throughout his life.

Michael is survived by his wife Donilyn; his children Alessia Holder (Cody Holder), Mikylee Leary, and Brott Leary (Tiffany Moulton); his mother Verna Trappett of Smithfield; his father David S. Leary of Nampa, Idaho; and siblings Jennie L. Dowdle (Fred Dowdle), James Trappett (Brooke Trappett), Leon Trappett (Kristina Trappett), John Trappett (Leia Trappett), and Peggy.

As a family we are devastated by his passing but are grateful he is free from his illnesses, pain and in a better place not suffering anymore.

A visitation will be held at Tate Mortuary in Tooele, Utah, Saturday, Dec. 12, from 11 a.m. to noon. A family memorial service will be at noon. In place of flowers or other gifts, the family prefers that donations be made to a memorial account. The family has set up an account at America First Credit Union under the name “Memorial for Michael.” Also a GoFundMe at this the web site: gf.me/u/zatv2s has been set up. We would also like friends and family to send memories of Michael and pictures they have to memorialformichael@gmail.com which will later be made into a book for the family.
