Adam Marlene Young Montague, 81, of Payson, Utah, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016. She always kept a great attitude of service. She was as spunky as she could be. She had agreed to be the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP) Chaplain at the Charleston in Cedar Hills, Utah, her latest area of residency. She was born to the late William Henry McCawley Young and Hilda Allean Willis on May 11, 1935. Marlene graduated from Tooele High School in 1953. After graduation, Marlene enrolled in St. Mark’s Nursing School, where she graduated with a nursing diploma. Upon her graduation, Marlene worked at St. Mark’s Hospital. Marlene also worked at Nephi Hospital and Mountain View Hospital in Payson, Utah. After her retirement from Mountain View Hospital, she volunteered there for about 15 years. Marlene was involved in Scouting as a den mother for at least 15 years and Girl Scouting for 10. She was very involved in the Payson Chapter of the DUP. Marlene was also a coronet player in the Payson City Band for 15 years. She played the cornet in the junior high and high school marching bands in Tooele. On Oct. 20, 1957, she married Eldon Hoover, and they had Steven and Rodney but later divorced. She later married Marcus Armstrong Montague on May 19, 1968, and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on Aug. 17, 1970. This union blended a family of his, hers and theirs (Nancy) into one. A faithful member of the LDS church, she served in many capacities. She served as Relief Society President, chorister and as the funeral/luncheon coordinator, which was her favorite calling. She also enjoyed serving along with her husband as temple workers in the Provo temple from 1987-89. Marlene is survived by five children: Steven Montague, Las Vegas, Nevada; Barbara (Jim) Rhodes, Loveland, Colorado; Stuart (Kelly) Montague, Payson, Utah; Rodney (Marnie) Montague, Los Angeles, California, and Nancy (Boris) Reyes, Highland, Utah; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way; an older brother, Gordon Young; and a younger sister, Jeannie Young. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Mark Montague. Marlene left behind a great legacy of hard work through service, love for Scouting, music, family and the importance of unconditional love. She will be dearly missed. Until we meet again. We love you! Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Payson, Utah, Park Ward Chapel, 110 S. 300 West.
