Kenneth Charles Christensen, our hero and father, passed away after his four-month battle with an aggressive melanoma cancer on Thursday, November 20th, 2014. He is greatly loved by his wife Sharie and daughters Karie (Tyson), Brooke, Shellie (Josh), and Paige. He is a grandpa to little Kai and son to Barbara Christensen and the late Ron Christensen. He is a brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many, and was loved by all of his in-laws as well. Ken was born in Ogden, Utah, and moved to Tooele at the age of six. He was always actively involved in his church and community. He served in many leadership positions and magnified all of his church callings. He has always been involved in the Scouting program and achieved his Eagle Scout as a young man. He served a faithful, full-time mission in Portland, Oregon. Ken was an avid racquetball player, swimmer, and is a proud member of the 100-mile club at the Pratt Aquatic center. He swam early each morning up until his cancer diagnosis. Ken attended Weber State and BYU where he graduated with his accounting degree. After graduating, he worked for the state of Utah as a corporate tax auditor. He then became the accountant and controller of the family company, Christensen and Griffith. He leaves the company after 23 years. Ken served on the board with the Tooele Chamber of Commerce for many years. He was currently serving on the Tooele County School District Education Foundation Board. He volunteered on and off over the years as a caucus chairman for his political party. He had many hobbies, but his favorite was working hard and playing hard with his family. We miss you, we love you, and we will see you soon. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 26th at 1 pm in the Tooele Stake Center. A viewing will be held Tuesday, November 25th from 6-8 p.m. at the Tate Mortuary.
