1956-2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Lynn Crossley. Jimbo passed away Aug. 17, 2023, at home in Carson City, Nevada, at the age of 66. He was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in 2017 and spent the last six years fighting for every good day he could get, and we are thankful he got so many. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, friend, and hunting partner to many people who will feel his absence forever.
He was born and raised in Tooele, Utah, where he also married his wife Kaye in 1983 and together they raised two daughters Lyndsey and Jamey. He had a 30-year career in gold mining and worked at Barrick Mercur in Utah and later Goldstrike, which moved the family to Spring Creek, Nevada, in 1998. He was known for his strong work ethic and dependability, and he cherished the lifelong friendships he made.
Jimbo was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, gun collector, and die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved archery season, his treasured memories with his favorite fishing and hunting buddies, and taking rides up the canyon with Kaye to scout for deer.
He and Kaye relocated to Carson City, Nevada, in 2019 to be closer to their daughters. He spent his last few years exploring the hills of the Carson Valley, enjoying time with family, and living exactly how he wanted for as long as he could.
He is survived by his mother Kathryn Ortega; his best friend and partner of 45 years Kaye; daughters Lyndsey (Duilio), and Jamey (Ben); sister Lori Jensen (Kye); brothers Richard, and Scott (Kris); dad Wesley Crossley (Deborah); and numerous extended family in Washington and Utah. He was preceded in death by his father Jose Ortega, who married Kathryn in 1965.
A celebration of life is planned for Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at the Eagles Lodge in Tooele, Utah. Additional details to follow via Facebook.
