Obit Dorothy “Dottie” CerroniDorothy J. Cerroni, 82, passed away April 19, 2023, at her home in Tooele, Utah. She was born Oct. 7, 1940, in Tooele, Utah, to Ray and Mary McMurray.

Dottie graduated from Tooele High School then attended Stevens Henager School of Business graduating in June 1958 and was among the top ten of her graduating class.

She later married Angelo Cerroni on April 8, 1961. They became proud parents to Paul, Anthony, and Maria Andanen.

She pursed her career at Tooele Army Depot where she took an early retirement, then shortly after became a grandmother to her two grandsons Matthew and Alex Gochis.

Dottie was a loving and devoted mother, wife, grandma, aunt, and friend, known for her green thumb and her unwavering love for her family. She found joy and solace in her beautiful garden, where she nurtured vibrant flowers. Every spring you could find her outside planting her flower beds and throughout the summer watering them every evening.

But above all, Dottie cherished her role as a grandmother to Matthew and Alex. She poured her love and attention into her grandchildren, creating treasured memories and imparting wisdom with every interaction. Whether it was supporting them at the baseball field or leaving them a stash of one-dollar bills in her drawer for them to stop by anytime for extra lunch money. She touched both of their lives. During the boy’s younger years, she never missed a sports activity; well, there was one time during the 1998 NBA finals between the Bulls and Jazz she missed Matthew’s game, which he never let her forget. Later on in their adult lives, both boys had an open door 24/7 for any discussions about sports, life, stocks, careers, or just small talk. She looked forward to her late-night visits by Alex chatting about stocks, life problems, or to watch a special TV show.

Dottie will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by children Paul Cerroni and Maria Gochis; grandchildren Matthew, Alex, and Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be celebrated June 2, 2023, at St. Marguerite Catholic Church, 15 S. 7th St., Tooele, at 1 p.m. Friends may call at 12:30 p.m. Luncheon will follow the services at the Elks Lodge and all are welcome.
