Obit Gwenda Lee GowansGwenda Lee Gowans (Gwen), the Queen of Ladybugs, and the woman who never met a watermelon she didn’t like, has taken her final bow May 23, 2023. Born Nov. 15, 1938, in Lovell, Wyoming, Gwen managed to find the funny side of life for 84 spunky, witty, and loving years. As a mother and proud member of the Triple Trio singing group, Gwen was always ready to belt out a tune or sew a costume when not playing the piano at home or for her church. Her compassionate heart led her to serve others through various roles, including Cub Scout leader, chorister, Primary president, and involvement in the Young Women’s organization.

When Gwen wasn’t tickling the ivories or running the show at her own home, she could be found doting on her grandchildren, passing on her strong faith in her Lord and Savior, and making sure her dear sweet Trina was well taken care of. Gwen’s ability to balance her love for music, family, and her faith was a testament to her ability to multitask like a pro. With her quick wit and penchant for playing jokes, Gwen had a way of making even the most mundane tasks enjoyable. And let’s not forget her adoration for watermelon; she was always in search of a good slice.

Despite having lived in Lovell, Wyoming, and Mesa, Arizona, for a short time, Gwen ultimately settled in Tooele, Utah. She is survived by her sons Todd Gowans (Tamera), Don Gowans (Joy), Troy Gowans (Brenda), and Brad Gowans (Michelle); daughter Tonya Hartley (Jim); brother Dennis Asay; 26 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Vivin Asay, mother Verda Asay, husband Hugh Gowans, daughter Trina Gowans, granddaughter Ashley Gowans, son-in-law Jim Hartley, brother Eugene (Gene) Asay, and sister Zelda Edgar.

Services were held Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

Gwen’s family would like to thank the staff at Our House Assisted Living center for their service to her these past few years.

Please join us in celebrating Gwen’s life by sharing your memories, uploading photos, and remembering the laughter and love she brought to us all on her memorial page.
