Obit Alma Ruth Eubanks RolphAlma Ruth Eubanks Rolph was born March 22, 1924, on Butler Branch at Bald Hill, Kentucky, to Joseph Henry Eubanks, Sr. and Gracie Best Hollar. She attended school in a one room schoolhouse. Ruth was very small and in order to see over her desktop she sat on two large catalogs. She loved school and greatly enjoyed listening to the other classes being taught, as well as her own.

Ruth was baptized in the cold water of a mill pond, then confirmed on the running board of her father’s truck, at Martha’s Mill, Fleming County, Kentucky. The elder who performed these ordinances was Elder Abraham J. Gold.

During World War II, Ruth saved $200 from her $12 per week paycheck to pay her way to Salt Lake City, Utah, to obtain her patriarchal blessing. This trek required a 10-day trip by train on The George Washington Express.

She married Nelson F. Rolph, a returned veteran from World War II. They were blessed with two children, a daughter Brenda Rolph (James) De Young, and a son Daniel Nelson (Jeanette) Rolph.

She was faithful and true to her faith all her years, serving in many callings and teaching children and adults alike. She suffered the loss of her eternal and beloved companion eight years ago, but rejoices in the faithfulness of her posterity, 28 grandkids.

Funeral service will be held at Tate Mortuary, Thursday, May 27, at 2 p.m. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45pm.
