Alida Joyce Hathaway Higley, faithfully attended the Grantsville Stake Conference on Feb. 16, 2020, where she passed away suddenly due to a heart attack. She was born Sept. 21, 1949, in Fort Ord, California. Joyce was 70 years young. Proceeding her in death were her mother Betty Florence Hathaway Dee (Milton), father Marlow Elroy Hathaway, brother Richard (Ricky) E. Hathaway, and her sister Marlene Hathaway. She was lovingly received by her family on the other side of the veil.
Joyce married the love of her life, Lester Vee Higley, on June 24, 1968, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in numerous callings and learned to love her Savior Jesus Christ. The calling that she naturally thrived in was ministering. Some of her closest friendships were created through her ministering service.
She is survived by her husband Lester Higley; one brother Robert (Bob) Hathaway (Carol); and three sisters, JoAnne Hathaway, Kay Hathaway, Ann Hathaway Jimenez (Fernando); along with her four sons, one daughter, and their spouses: Richard Dale Higley (Jennifer), Lester Douglas Higley (Rosie), Lori Gay Bunnow (Chris), Michael Kelly Higley (Racheal), and Kenney C Higley (Fanetta). She also has 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend services: Viewing Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020, from 6 to 8 p.m., funeral Friday, February 21, 2020, at noon, with a viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. All services will be held at the Clark 2nd Ward Church, 81 Church St., Grantsville, Utah. Burial will be in the Grantsville City Cemetery.
