Obit Betty Canning Sutherland 1Mrs. Betty Canning Sutherland passed away content on April 11, 2015. She was born in 1920 to Edna Kay and Henry Canning in Salt Lake City. She led a life lived in grace with rich stories. Betty belonged to a great generation that witnessed the Depression, World War II, and all the new technologies of our times today. Her younger years were filled with laughter and love, surrounded by her mother, dad, brother, sister-in-law, many aunts, uncles, cousins, Mama Kay and Papa Kay. During high school and long after Betty was a member of what was known as the Sixteen Club — all best friends — and together they hosted many civic and social events. After World War II she married Leland A. Sutherland, together they shared many loving years. Sadly, before his time Leland passed away at a young age; her brother and his wife were never far from her side. She held various jobs prior to retiring from the Tooele Army Depot. After retirement, her time was spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, working in her yard and reading. Betty was preceded in death by daughter Suzanne, husband Leland, and son Lance.
