Deborah K. Chance-Russell, (aka, Debby, aka Sissy), past Matron of the Tooele Valley Chapter #25, Order of the Eastern Star of Utah, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at her home early in the morning. She was attended by her loving husband, Dee (Leland) Russell.
Debby was born Jan. 16, 1952, to Shirley F. Bayer-Chance and Charles L. Chance in Granite City, IL. Debby has 3 siblings: Robert Chance (Sandy, Chris, Scotty), Tammie Chance and David Chance (Linda).
Debby married Don Murphy and had a son, Donnie (TomiAnn and Taylor). They moved to Utah in 1972. Danielle (Ryan, Jaslynn, Audriana) Murphy-Luper was born in 1974. Debby loved her kids and grandkids like a mean momma bear (Bayer?). She worked at Tooele Army Depot for 28 years. She was honored with a Presidential Citation for her work during Desert Storm. Prior to her life-changing car crash in 2006, she could be found on a snowmobile catching air or looking bad @ss in leathers on her Shadow.
Debby married Dee Russell (Wade, Yvonne, Andaya) on Sept. 11, 1998. It was Dee’s honor and privilege to care for Sissy as her condition deteriorated. He seldom left her side. Debby was preceded in death by her son, Donnie; her mom and dad; brother, Bob; and nephew, Brian.
Debby was very proud of her Masonic heritage and was thrilled to be elevated to the position of Worthy Matron of Tooele Valley Chapter #25 during the 2010-11 Chapter year. Her Worthy Patron was none other than brother, Bob. All was well unless there was a NASCAR race. Then, all bets are off!
Please join us for a memorial service at the Tooele Masonic Temple, 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018. Service will begin at 12 p.m. with a luncheon to follow (come hungry!)
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider donating to your favorite OES charity.
