Peter John Brattos, (Pete), age 63, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at the University Hospital from complications from diabetes. Pete was born Oct. 10, 1954 in Gothenburg, Sweden, son of Leif Erling Brattos and Inga-Lill Kerstin Kallen. He married Joy Lee Taylor in 1975, whom he lost to leukemia in 1977. He later married Frances Kay Allen on Sept. 17, 1986.
He became the step-dad to Brenda (Kyle) Madsen of West Jordan, Annette (Jay) Winn of Taylorsville, Julie (Russell) Jensen of Woods Cross, Elvin (Olga) Allen, Herbert (Christi) Allen of West Jordan, and Diane Geesey of Ironwood, MI. Pete and Frances raised their granddaughter Kayla Hauck as their daughter. He was “Grandpa Pete” to 21 grandkids, and “Papa Pete” to 12 great-grandkids. Pete was also the big brother to Marianne Brattos of Cottonwood Heights, and Jane Brattos of Millcreek.
Pete worked at Wycoff, driving truck, for the State of Utah for 21 years of service, during that time, he worked at Murray City Fire Department, Utah Highway Patrol, security for Gov. Norman Bangeter, and Decker Lake. He also worked for American Towers for 20 Years. He later worked for EnergySolutions until 2010, when he was no longer able to work, due to health.
Pete loved searching ghost towns and mines. He enjoyed the great outdoors. He always said it was his way of being close to nature. Pete absolutely loved visiting West Yellowstone, and going to Oregon. He said Oregon reminded him of his home in Sweden. Pete loved John Wayne and watching old westerns.
Pete was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Pete is survived by his wife, Frances; 19 grandkids; 12 great-grandkids; 2 sisters, 4 nephews and 2 nieces; and his dog, Lily. Preceded in death by first wife Joy Lee in 1977; his mother (3-28-1990); father (2-14-2017); Granddaughter Breanna (4-8-2013) and Grandson Nathan (9-12-2018).
The family wants to thank the medical staff at University Hospital for their care, and Bishop Haymond. Services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at 240 Interlochen Lane, Stansbury Park. Services are as follows: Public visitation 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Funeral 1 p.m. Graveside services at Stansbury Cemetery. Kärleksfull, omtänksam och hårt arbetande. Loving, caring and hardworking.
