Lanila S. Hein
Lanila S. Hein was born Feb. 3, 1933, to Ira and Laura Shepherd in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, and raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. Her earthly journey came to an end on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, after two very valiant battles with cancer. She can now rest in peace.
Lanila married Carl G. Hein on Oct. 7, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a mother of three children: Sherrie, Kenneth and Trois; a grandmother of seven grandchildren; and a great-grandmother of 12 great-grandchildren. She was a valiant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she held many church callings. She enjoyed working at various part time jobs, and also volunteered at the Dugway Hospital.
Mom and Dad raised their family in Dugway and Tooele. Mom enjoyed making crafts, painting, peanut clusters, shrimp, hobo stew, rain on the roof, corn, and going for rides. But most of all, she enjoyed when her family came to visit. Mom and Dad made and renewed many friendships as they have spent the past 22 years with friends and family being snowbirds in Southern Utah and Arizona. These were some of the happiest times of her life. She welcomed and loved visitors whether they were just passing through or staying for a weekend.
Lanila is preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister. She is survived by her loving husband Carl, her three children, and her brother, Oren.
Services will be held at the Tooele 15th Ward building, 1030 S. 900 West in Tooele. A viewing will be held Friday, March 2 from 10-11 a.m. with a small service to follow from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A luncheon will follow the services. Interment will be at Camp Williams at a later date.
Norma Tate Allen
Norma Allen, devoted wife, our wonderful mother, and loving grandmother, passed through the veil to rejoin her husband, family and friends on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018.
Norma was born in Tooele, Utah, on June 18, 1918, to Joseph Earl Tate and Bertha Shields Tate. She graduated from Tooele High School and attended Brigham Young University. She married her sweetheart, Clyde Allen, in New York City on April 3, 1941, and was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She was a devoted member of the LDS Church and held positions in the Primary and Relief Society.
During WWII she worked supporting the war effort in New York while supporting Clyde who was serving our country in the US Navy.
Norma was very athletic and loved baseball and played with the Utah Copperettes after high school. She worked alongside Clyde in the family finance and insurance business for many years.
Norma was devoted to her family and was never happier than when she was with them. Norma and Clyde celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2006, which was attended by their entire family. She had a great sense of humor and was loved by all who knew her.
Norma is survived by her two sons, C. Jess Allen II (Gloria) of Burbank, California, and David E. Allen of Tooele, Utah. She is also survived by her grandchildren: D. Eric Allen (Desirae) of South Jordan, Utah; Jason Bluth of Hillsboro, Oregon; Julie Zentner (Mark) of Corona, California; Megan Whieldon (Bo) of Upland, California; Katie Shepherd (Aaron) of Brigham City, Utah; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Norma was preceded in passing by Clyde in 2007, her brother LaVar Tate, and her sister Maxine Grimm.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 5 at 1 p.m. at the Tooele LDS South Stake Center, 1025 Southwest Drive, in Tooele, Utah. A viewing will be held from 12 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.
Diane Louise Utley Curtis
Diane Louise Utley Curtis, age 63, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018. She was the loving wife of Mark Dana Curtis, the incredibly busy mother of Trevor and his beloved wife Linsey, Mary, Kendall, and Joshua Curtis, and the proud grandmother of Charisse, Aubrey and Renae Curtis, along with an as-yet-unborn grandson.
Diane was born on Feb. 9, 1955, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Ann Collins, father, Morris Thomas Utley Jr., and grandparents. Diane left a legacy of music and laughter everywhere she went. Generous, caring and determined, she will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
There will be a viewing on March 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Tate Mortuary: 110 S. Main, Tooele, Utah. A second viewing will be held on March 7 from 9:30–10:45 a.m. at the Tooele Stake Center: 253 S. 200 East, Tooele. The funeral will follow directly at 11 a.m. at the Tooele Stake Center.

Betty Lou Young Higgins
Betty Lou Young Higgins passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at her niece’s home at the age of 90. She was born March 30, 1927, to James and Gladys Young in Ophir, Utah. She married Clisby W. Higgins on June 1, 1954 in Tooele, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 21, 1967.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Paula) Higgins; four grandchildren, Ray M. Higgins, Steven B. Higgins, Jayson L. (Gabby) Higgins and Heidi (Brandon) Highley; one great-grandson, Kenny; sister-in-law, Mary Young; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Georgia Young Skinner and Helen Young Allred; and brother, James “Bud” Young, Jr.
Betty enjoyed caring for her yard and house, loved going to Ophir, and enjoyed family and friends’ gatherings. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A special thank you to her niece Linda (Neal) Olson for their loving and caring attention, Harmony Hospice, and her visiting teacher Kae Olson.
Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 583 N. 270 East, Tooele, Utah, on Saturday, March 10 at 1 p.m. with viewing prior to the service at 11 am. Burial will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.
Bernie F. Morgas
Bernie F. Morgas, devoted husband, wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.
Bernie was born on July 4, 1961, and raised in Taos, New Mexico. He graduated from high school there before moving and residing in Tooele, Utah, where he met Brenda Evans, his true love of 35 years.

Cody Gillette
Our loving son and brother, Cody Gillette, age 26, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, in Stansbury Park. Cody was born in West Valley City, Utah, on Dec 6, 1991, to Leslie Duane Gillette and Angie Jackson Gillette. He graduated from Stansbury High School in 2010.
Cody was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a natural outdoorsman. He loved spending time in the outdoors with family and friends. He also loved baseball, soccer and golf. He was a great friend and kind-hearted. He was enthusiastic, a leader and people were drawn to him, especially children.
Cody is survived by his parents, Duane and Angie Gillette; his sister, Kaylee Gillette; his grandmother, Sherron Gillette; his grandfather, Richard Jackson; his grandmother, Janice Jackson; uncles, Aaron (Jacque) Jackson and Aric (Cassie) Jackson; aunt, Debra Nickolas; and cousins, Chad Nickolas, Zachary Buzianas, Tiffany Nickolas, Dallas Jackson and Jordyn Jackson.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Gillette and great grandparents.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 7, at 4 p.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main, Tooele. The family will receive friends for a viewing at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, at Tate Mortuary. After the service, Cody will be cremated and his ashes will be spread in the great outdoors.
Friends and family are welcome for food provided by Lane Marshall, Gina Ruiz and the wonderful ladies of Mountain of Faith Lutheran Church at LaRue and Shirley’s 30 W. 100 South (right across the street from the mortuary) from 5:30-7 p.m.

Leslie Howard Garrard
Leslie Howard Garrard, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on a beautiful Sunday morning, March 4, 2018. He was born March 9, 1937, in Murray, Utah, to Harold Edwin Garrard and Myra Ruth Vorwaller. He graduated from Tooele High School and Salt Lake Technical College, and worked at Kennecott as a boilermaker.
Les married the love of his life, Janet Lucille Johnson, on July 19, 1957. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 30, 1968. He was a loving father and grandfather and enjoyed being surrounded by family. He was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in many callings, including counselor in the bishopric and scoutmaster.
In his younger years, he enjoyed duck hunting, deer hunting, camping, fishing, farming, and car shows.
Les is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Jim (Patti), Jennifer (Roy), Howard (Wendy), Kristine, Troy, Kendall (Tina), Kevin (Gail), and Jeremy; 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sisters in law, Marjorie Garrard, Eileen McCumber, Pam Hilton (Ray), Wendy Harry (Joe) and Vanessa Pinkston (Howard); and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane and Richard, sister, Linda Carlson; in-laws, Jim and Olive Johnson; son, Greg; daughter, Ellen; daughters in law, Pat and Shanna; grandson, Jared Garrard; sister-in-law, Pat Green; and brother-in-law Keaton McCumber.

Venita Thomas Paget
Venita Thomas Paget, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the age of 89.
Venita was born on June 13, 1928, in Dayton, Idaho. She was the youngest of four children born to Horatio and Mable Thomas, and she grew up in Montpelier, Idaho.
At the age of nine months, she lost her hearing as a result of spinal meningitis. Despite her loss of hearing, she was still able to attend school, to work and to live a happy and fulfilling life.
Mom met the love of her life, Earl Paget, and they were married on Dec. 3, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on Nov. 2, 1955. They spent 60 wonderful years of marriage before Dad passed away.
Mom spent the early years of her marriage at home raising her family. She returned to work after her children got older, and worked at Tooele Valley Hospital for many years in housekeeping before she retired.
Venita and Earl celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 3, 1999, which was truly a special day for them and their family. They went on to enjoy many more happy years together, traveling, woodworking and crafting together.
Venita was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Cecil and Lynn; and her sister, Dorothy. She was also preceded in death by her husband and a grandson, Brian Paget.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Margie) Paget; her daughter, Claudia (Kevin) Okubo; and four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at the Tooele Stake Center, 252 S. 200 East in Tooele, Utah. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Tate Mortuary 110 S. Main, Tooele, and on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.

Wayne Reed Rindlisbacher
Wayne Reed Rindlisbacher, 71, of Grantsville, Utah, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.
Wayne was born on Aug. 31, 1946, in Logan, Utah, to Reed and Norma Rindlisbacher. He was raised as a farm boy, hunter and avid fisherman in West Mountain, Utah. After graduating from Payson High School, he served an LDS mission in the Canada Ontario Mission. Upon completion of his missionary service, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Security Agency as an intelligence officer.
He married the love of his life, Gaylene Haskell, on Dec. 12, 1968, in the LDS Manti Temple. Shortly after their marriage, Wayne was assigned to military service at army installations in Germany where he and Gaylene spent three years. In October 1976, Wayne was honorably discharged from military service and began his career as a civil servant at Dugway Proving Ground where he retired 32 years later as the Chief of Intelligence.
Wayne graduated from Brigham Young University on Aug. 26, 1982. Wayne loved his family and was often caught chuckling out of the blue over something one of his funny, little grandchildren had said. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and an amazing leader. He leaves behind an example and legacy that will never be forgotten. He will truly be missed.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Reed and Norma Rindlisbacher, and his sister, Lorraine Meredith.
Wayne is survived by Gaylene Haskell Rindlisbacher; their children, Al (Amy) Rindlisbacher, Nanalee (Shane) Jones, Tiffany (Michael) Odell and Corrie (Brett) Kidder; siblings, Paul (Lona) Rindlisbacher, Lynn (Carol) Rindlisbacher, Colleen (LeEarl) Peck, Becky (Kelly) Morganson, and Uncle Jay (Maureen) Rindlisbacher; grandchildren, Rayden Jones, Alyks Odell, Reed Rindlisbacher, Ben Odell, Lena Odell, Kairi Jones, Ella Rindlisbacher, William Kidder, Cooper Kidder and Caitlyn Kidder.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 12, at 11 a.m. in the Grantsville 3rd Ward, 428 S. Hale St., Grantsville. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 10, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services both at the church. Burial will be in the Grantsville City Cemetery with military honors.

Carol O’Driscoll
Heaven gained another angel on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018.
Carol O’Driscoll passed away peacefully and has reunited with her husband and family. She was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Tooele, Utah, to Verdon and Catherine Bullock Stott. Carol graduated from Tooele High School, and then from Westminster College with a diploma in nursing and certification as a Registered Nurse. She was so proud of that accomplishment and was respected in her field for 30 years. She worked at Tooele Valley Hospital, working the latter part of her career as an ER Nurse, which was her specialty.
Carol married the love of her life, Elden O’Driscoll, in 1953. They had many wonderful adventures together. She treasured the gifts of Indian beadwork and old world craftsmanship he often brought to her. She loved old bottles and bells of any kind, and she loved to go in search of antiques. She was funny and spontaneous. Her laugh, smile, and sense of humor will be forever missed.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine; her beloved grandparents, Mark and Mary Bullock; and her husband, Elden.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Sheila), Paula and Mary Jane; grandsons, Shawn and Kevin (Cherell); great grandchildren, Averie, Zachary and Dallas. Her family was her greatest treasure.
At Carol’s request, there will be no services. There will be a public viewing Monday, March 12 from 10-11a.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main, Tooele. Burial will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.
Ivan “Ike” Draper
Ivan passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 4, 2018.
He is a descendant of early Utah Heritage, and is a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneer Organization. The city of Draper is named after his great-grandfather, William Draper, Jr.
Ivan was born on Dec. 29, 1929, in Wellington, Utah, to Melvin A. and Ella Nora White Draper. He was the youngest of 10 siblings all of whom have preceded him in death.
In 1949, Ivan began working for Utah Power and Light and retired from the company after 35 years in 1985. His career was interrupted in 1951 when he received a greeting from the President of the United States requesting his presence in the military during the Korean conflict. He was discharged from the army in 1993.
In 1954 Ivan married Marva Jean McCarthy and she has been his soulmate for 64 years. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1965. Their children were sealed to them. Also in the year 1965, Ivan was enrolled in night school at Brigham Young University. Working full-time helping to raise his family, he continued for five years mastering in Business Management. In 1973 he again joined the military and served an additional 18 years. He retired with 20 years of service in 1991 as a senior master sergeant in the Utah Air National Guard.
After retirement, Ivan volunteered working for the senior volunteer program in St. George for eight years.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Alan, Karen (Larry) Bush, Debra Mondragon, Elmer Mondragon (deceased), Claudia Garrett, and Julie Watts; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 10 at Tate Mortuary 110 S. Main St., Tooele at 11:30 a.m. There will be a visitation prior to the service at the mortuary from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Full military honors will be offered by the local VFW post 9413 and the U.S. Air Force. Burial will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.

Joan Jameson Kelsey
Joan Kelsey, age 75, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at the University of Utah ICU Burn Center surrounded by family.
She was born Oct. 16, 1942, in Provo, Utah, at Utah Valley Hospital. She was born to Eva Schemensky and Jack (John) Jameson. She married Jerry Glade Kelsey on Aug. 13, 1960, in Eureka, Utah.
Joan enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and riding around in the mountains with her sweetheart prior to his passing. After his passing, she spent more time with friends and family, especially taking trips to Salt Lake with her friends, and spending as much time as possible with her grand kids. Joan chose to be a stay-at-home mother and wife, and was very happy doing that. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her favorite calling was being a Visiting Teacher.
Joan is survived by daughters, Tami (Bob) Gowans and Teresa (Bruce) Elton, all from Tooele; four grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Connie Lofgran of Nephi, Utah and Virginia Underwood of Eureka, Utah; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandchild, four brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and one nephew.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, March 13 from 6-8 p.m. at Tate Mortuary. The funeral will be held Wednesday March 14 at 11 a.m. at the LDS church located at 180 S. Coleman, Tooele, Utah. A viewing will be held at the same location from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Dacoda Jay Ellis
Our loving son, brother, grandson and uncle, Dacoda Ellis, age 21, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 9, 2018, after a long battle of addiction and depression in Grantsville, Utah. Dacoda was born in Salt Lake City on Nov. 25, 1996.
Dacoda loved skateboarding, snowboarding, music, gaming and hanging out with his family and friends. He had a great personality and loved having fun and making everyone smile and laugh. He touched so many lives and he’s going to be extremely missed.
Dacoda is survived by his parents, Wendy (David) Segelke and Russ (Diane) Ellis; siblings, Kimber (Bodie) Ellis, Oakley (Kaitlin) Ellis, Brody Ellis, Justin (Jessica) Johnson and Melanie, Mick, Matthew and Martin Howell; niece, Azura; nephews, Oliver and Blake; his loving grandparents, Walt Eyre, Elena (John) Wilson, Wanda Ellis and Judy and Ed Johnson; also many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved and adored him very much!
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15 at 11 a.m. A viewing will be Wednesday night, March 14, from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral from 10– 10:45 a.m. All services will take place at the LDS Chapel located at 428 S. Hale Street in Grantsville. Interment will follow at Grantsville City Cemetery.
Madge Terry Steeneck
Our dearest mother and wife, Madge Terry Steeneck, returned to our Heavenly Father’s presence on Thursday, March 8, 2018. She will be dearly missed. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed making clothing, patchwork quilts, and dish towels for her family and grandchildren. She also liked knitting, making soap, greeting cards, water coloring and drawing.
She was faithful in serving others, doing her visiting teaching and serving in the Relief Society. She loved reading “Ensign” and “Friend” magazines from cover to cover.
Madge is survived by her husband of 56 years, Allan; her children and 12 grandchildren. A graveside service was held March 13th at the Grantsville City Cemetery.

Martin John Burgio
Martin John Burgio (Marty), 67, unexpectedly passed away on the morning of Monday, March 12, 2018, at his home in Stockton, Utah. He left peacefully in his sleep.
Marty was loved by all who had the great honor to know him. He will be remembered for his amazing smile, free spirit, loving heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand to any and all who needed it.
He leaves behind many family and friends who were near and dear to his heart. A celebration of his life will be held at Tate Mortuary on Monday, March 19. Viewing hours are from 4:30-5:45 p.m., with a funeral following at 6 p.m.
