Obit Tyler Scott StricklandTyler Scott Strickland, age 28, passed away from injuries he sustained in an auto accident in his hometown of Grantsville, Utah, on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

Tyler (Scrappy), a nickname his grandpa Bill gave him at an early age, was born to Steven and Ann Strickland on Nov. 23, 1988. Tyler made his grand entrance into this world four minutes after his twin sister Tenille, thus proving to be the first of many times he would let his sister be number one.

Tyler graduated from Grantsville High in 2007 and attended Grantsville schools. Shortly after high school, he met Heather Marie Capell, and they were married on Feb. 26, 2011. Together, they had two beautiful children, Payton Marie and Ryker Kenneth Scott. His love for Heather was unconditional and he wanted nothing more than to make her happy.

Tyler worked hard and made a career for himself with ISEC. In his nine years, he progressed from laborer to foreman, where he was in charge of all Salt Lake-area projects. He met some amazing buddies there where he built a special bond with Snake, Beaver, and many more. He also had the opportunity during this time to work with his brother Greg and great friend Matt.

Tyler’s passion in life were his two children, Payton and Ryker. Every spare moment he had, you would find him cheering these two on no matter what they were doing, from Payton’s dance recitals to Ryker’s sports.

During the warmer months, you’d always hear Payton and Ryker talking about their go-go buggy adventures with mom and dad, and their camping trips with David, Kaitlyn, Brad, Amy and all the kids. These stories are truly memories everyone will hold deep in their hearts.

Tyler’s hobbies include going to the gym, backyard BBQs in his fire pit he was so proud of, golfing, hunting, anything outdoors and helping Heather with all her Pinterest projects.

He was preceded in death by grandfathers Lorin Eugene Mattinson and Grant Worthen.

He is survived by his wife Heather Strickland, daughter Payton (8), son Ryker (5); mother Ann Strickland and father Steve Strickland (Shelly); sisters Angie (Mike) Silva and Tenille (Glade) Martin; brothers Greg Strickland and James Strickland; grandparents Bill (Myrna) Strickland and Martha Mattinson; aunts and uncles Glen (Robin) Strickland, Dwaine Strickland, Lorin Kay (Joy) Mattinson, Audrey Crouse; in-laws Sheldon and Suzanne Capell, Tyler (Karleen) Capell, Whitney (Jake) Peterson and Zachary Capell.

He is also survived by nieces and nephews Maddison, Hayden, Kenidee, Hadleigh, Brexley, Grayson, Paxton, Beau, Gracie and Georgia; many cousins, friends and people near and far who loved him; and last but not least, despite his love/hate relationship, his dog Jax.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at noon in the Grantsville Stake Center, 550 E. Durfee St., Grantsville. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and also from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Grantsville City Cemetery.

Obit Della Weber HansenDella Weber Hansen, 89, passed away peacefully at her St. George, Utah home on June 20, 2017. Della was born on Jan. 26, 1928 in Park City, Utah to Melissa Mamie Day and Ludwig Richard Weber. She was one of five children.

From a very young age, she held multiple jobs to help her mother and siblings, and to put herself through school. She was also heavily involved in sports and student council. This is when she learned the value of hard work, which was evident throughout her life.

Della married her sweetheart, Lloyd Eldon Hansen on June 25, 1947 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They raised four children and one foster child in Tooele, Utah. Della’s crowning achievement was motherhood and she raised her children in love and selflessness.

As a faithful Latter-day Saint, Della served in many capacities. She particularly loved serving with the ward and stake young women, where she became a Girl’s Camp legend as she enthusiastically attended camp for 21 years.

Ever the hard worker, Della excelled in careers at the Tooele Army Depot and at Morton-Thiokol, where she retired after 26 years.

Della and Eldon served an LDS mission to British Columbia from 1977-1979, where they left a lasting influence by sharing their testimonies of Jesus Christ. Following their mission, they moved to a farm in Petersboro, Utah, where their grandchildren thrived on grandma’s generosity and lively charm. Della would often stay up late playing games with her grandchildren, always making sure they won.

In 2003, Della and Eldon relocated to sunny St. George, where Della was active in humanitarian work, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and attendng the LDS temple. Della’s courageous spirit shone as she struggled to speak late in life, but still constantly served and influenced others.

All who met her instantly felt her warmth, evidenced by her huge hugs and tireless service. Della was one to encourage, inspire, lift and serve. She was truly an elect lady. We have all been blessed by her association over the years. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Charles Robert Warr

Obit Charles Robert WarrJune 25, 2017

Charles “Charley” Robert Warr, also called “Charley Bob,” was called back to his Heavenly Father on June 25, 2017, as a result of a sudden heart attack. Charley was born Dec. 11, 1946, to Keith and Nina Warr in Tooele, Utah. He was the second of two sons.

He grew up in Erda as a fifth-generation Warr. He dearly loved Erda and chose to remain there the rest of his life. His love for the outdoors, working in the fields and watching his labors grow and develop brought him great peace and happiness.

Charley met his childhood sweetheart, Judy Rydalch, in the third grade and their love continued to grow over the years. They were married Dec. 18, 1965, and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 22, 1978.

Charley attended Tooele High School, graduating in 1965, and Utah State University for a short time. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, working in the artillery/missile battalion, serving in Okinawa, Japan and El Paso, Texas.

He started working at Vista Liner Company then moved to Tooele Army Depot in supply and inventory. From there he transferred to Dugway Proving Ground as a material test director and retired with 36 years of federal service. Upon his retirement, he became a full-time rancher  — he called it “a dream life.”

He loved working with the land, fencing, moving sprinklers and raising his cattle. In doing so, he was able to teach his entire family how to work hard and to appreciate the open space around them. Each grandkid learned to drive a pickup, corral cows, move sprinklers and most of all, to love each other.

Charley loved to fish and hunt. Fall was “his time” to head to the mountains and look for the elk, deer, moose, bear and cougar. He did all these things with his family and friends, whom he loved more than life itself.

Charley was a very unselfish man and loved to help people. He was kind and took great pride in his heritage.

Charley was a member of the Grantsville Grazing Association, on the Utah Association of Conservation Districts Board of Directors (a group that promotes water and soil conservation), Erda Township Planning Commission and Tooele County Agriculture Protection Area Advisory Board.

He loved to do things with and for his family. It gave him great pleasure to watch his family as they worked with him, gave him hugs and kisses, gathered cows in Idaho and shared all their stories of a great hunt, a great ball game they played or the big fish they caught.

He will be remembered for his willingness to go the extra mile, no matter how hard it was.

Charley was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, faithfully serving in many callings including high priest advisor, counselor in the bishopric, scoutmaster and as the Batesville Ward bishop. He truly loved the members of his ward and was so concerned about them.

Charley is survived by his mother, Nina; wife, Judy; his children Troy (Valerie), Lorri (John) Witkowski and Kody (Audrey); 14 grandchildren: T.J., Steven, Jacob, Josh, Makayla, Alison, Lorin, Megan, Alyssa, Austin, Easton, Charlee, Tiffany and Dakota; three great-grandchildren: Grace, Owen and Hayden; sisters-in-law Mayla Warr and Peggy Champneys; and brothers-in-law Gordon Champneys and Jeff Rydalch.
