She was born in Ophir, Utah on June 5, 1921 to Alfred DeRose and Rhoda Whitlock, and was raised in Ophir and Stockton, Utah, where she had many fond memories of family and friends. Her fondest memories growing up were those she spent on the Vario Ranch in Ophir, with her aunt Etta, uncle Patsy, and cousins who were more like brothers and sisters to her. She married Leonard Nephi Workman, and together raised six children. Julia lived a long life loving and serving her family. She was no stranger to hard work and sacrifice when it came to her children. Julia enjoyed working in the yard, playing slots in Wendover with her sisters Kathleen and Sybil, and shopping. Julia was happiest when she was cooking for her family. Her spaghetti, rigatoni and meatball dinners were everyone’s favorite. Her children and grandchildren were most precious to her and she loved them all dearly. Julia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and while not active, she enjoyed visits from members of her ward. She retired from Tooele Army Depot after 18 years of service. She was loved and admired by all who knew her, and will be remembered for her candidness (sometimes colorful), wit, laughter and caring, but most of all, by the love she gave so freely and unconditionally. She was born in Bountiful, Utah on May 20, 1928 to Peter Adshead Wilson and Hettie Jane Call Wilson in the home where she was raised with her four brothers and two sisters. She attended Davis High School and later earned her GED, which pleased her very much. She met Alexander Dick Johnson of Price, Utah, on a double date with her cousin. After a short courtship they were married on March 30, 1946 in the room where she was born in Bountiful. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in June 1961. They were unique as the only couple that returned to the state of Utah as part of the consolidations. She and her husband lived in that home for the rest of their lives. Growing up in rural Utah during the the Great Depression, times were hard; she always appreciated the abundance from the LORD she had with her family in Tooele. She worked at VistaLiner Campers and then Tooele Army Depot as a carpenter in the box and crate division until she retired in 1981. Dick, her husband of 37 years, died in October 1983. She enjoyed traveling out of the country and on cruises with her travel companion, Junior Rose (JR). She was a proud member of the LDS Church, the Red Hat Society and the Moose Lodge. Kelvyn was born on Sept. 10, 1996 in Ely, Nevada. When Kelvyn was seven months old, his family moved to Southern Utah where he resided with his mom, Terasa, until July of 2008. Although Kelvyn was “fired” from playing church ball by his parents he continued to play whenever he got the opportunity elsewhere. Kelvyn had many friends and loved ones, young and “older” alike. Whether or not he fully understood, many people have a great love for this young man. Kelvyn was very concerned about taking care of his mom, he was caring and thoughtful and had many, many wonderful qualities. Although Kelvyn had many struggles in the past few years he, many times, had that wonderful vibrant spirit shine through. Kelvyn had a deep and abiding love for his Savior, Jesus Christ and although at times it was difficult to see, he had a wonderful testimony of the truthfulness and importance of the work of the Lord. You could always count on Kelvyn to serve where he was needed and to help others however he could. Kelvyn will be remembered and loved by many and even though his time on this earth was short he will live in our memories until we meet again.
