Earlen Jay Hamp

Obit Earlen Jay HampEarlen Jay Hamp returned home on June 22, 2017. Earlen was born on Sept. 19, 1930, to Ezra William and Hilda Mae (Brande) Hamp. He was raised in Stockton, Utah, and married his sweetheart, Loretta Gaye Anderson, in 1950. They were married 61 years when she passed away six years ago.

Earlen was blessed with five children, 37 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren with one on the way and one great-great-grandchild.

Earlen had his own business, Hamp Drywall and Roofing. He built many houses, businesses and churches, both in the Tooele area, where he remodeled the Kirk Hotel, and in other states. He loved fishing, his Westerns and riding in a car to spot deer with his son-in-law, Glen. He was an avid Utah Jazz fan and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Earlen is survived by his children Jay (Pearl) Hamp (Arizona), Ron (Brenda) Hamp (Wyoming), Sherry (Glen) Tomboc (Tooele), Dee (Paul) Miller (Tooele) and Don (Bree) Hamp (SLC); his special daughter-in-law, LaDawn (Jim) (Tooele); his brother-in-law, Kay (Patsy) Anderson; and his sisters-in-law Sharon (Bob) Owens and Ruby Hamp. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Bill and Floyd Hamp, several in-laws, nieces and nephews and a special great-grandson, Jacob Michael Fawson.

The family would like to thank his neighbors, friends, and caretakers at the University of Utah Hospital.

We know she was waiting for you, Dad. We love and will always miss you.

Graveside services will be held at the Grantsville Cemetery on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at 1 p.m.
