Donald K. De La Mare, “Don,” 89, passed away peacefully on Dec. 11, 2016, in Provo, Utah, surrounded by his family. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 19, 2016, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 700 W. 2600 North, Lehi, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9-9:45 a.m. Burial will follow the funeral at Tooele Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Tate Mortuary, Tooele, Utah. Don was born in Tooele, Utah, on June 30, 1927, to his parents Alma J. De La Mare and Persie Whitehouse. He graduated from Tooele High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University. His education was interrupted by his service in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a medic for two years. He later served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the northwestern states. Don met Barbara Ann Smith while attending BYU and they were married May 17, 1956. They raised their family of five children in La Mirada, California, and spent more than 40 years living there until they moved to Parker, Colorado, where they spent 14 years and then returned back to Utah where he passed away. Don was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 59 years, Barbara Ann De La Mare. He is survived by a brother, Jay De La Mare; his five children Kym, Kayleen, Greg, Lisa and Tanya, their spouses, 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
