Henrietta passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, after a short illness.
She was born Feb. 9, 1932, to Henry Matthew and Rachael McClung in Nallen, West Virginia. She graduated from Nuttall High School in Lookout, West Virginia in 1950. She joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and completed her basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas in 1950 as a basic airman training in cryptology. While serving in the military she met her future husband, Jay Gordon Fitzwater, who was also serving in the Air Force. They married in 1951 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, making their home in Tooele County, Utah — first in Vernon, then Rush Valley. She was a quiet southern lady and a woman of many talents. Henrietta was a skilled artist, awarded several blue ribbons for entries in county and state fairs; an excellent seamstress, making many of her children’s clothing and her crochet abilities were unsurpassed. She was also a musician who played the steel guitar, while accompanying herself with a beautiful soprano voice. She was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers, winning several awards while working for them for more than 30 years. Still giving after her death, Henrietta was an organ donor. She is survived by her children Angelia Joy, Sidney Lee (Allen) Liddiard, Gordon Jay (Pennie) Fitzwater, Martha Mae (Josef) Smith and Lonnie Matthew Fitzwater; foster children Charles Glen Davis and Roxanne Davis Warner; grandchildren Casey and Jacob Cochrane, Ivan Fitzwater, Angela and Marcia Salazar and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jay Gordon Fitzwater, granddaughter Maria Francesca Garneri, parents and two sisters. She will be buried with her husband in Rush Valley, Utah, following cremation. Special thanks to Brand Reynolds for the special care given to her for many years. She was truly fond of him. The family would like to express their appreciation to Didericksen Memorial of Grantsville, Utah.
