Obit Mary Alice Degelbeck KirkhamMary Alice Degelbeck Kirkham passed away Oct. 9, 2016, after a 16-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born June 9, 1938, in Ophir, Utah to Edwin John and Helen Clara Jorgensen Degelbeck. She was the oldest of six children. She married her eternal sweetheart, Norman D. Kirkham in the Salt Lake Temple on Feb. 21, 1969. They have six children: Heather (Mark) Dubach of South Jordan, Shaun (Melissa) Kirkham of Lehi, Melinda (Derrick) Sorensen of Salt Lake City, Angela Smart of South Jordan, Rob (Marie) Kirkham of Kaysville, and Cody Kirkham of North Salt Lake. She is survived by her husband Norman D. Kirkham; all six of her children; 26 grandchildren; two brothers, Max (Kathy) of Tooele and Scott of Tooele; two sisters, Carolyn Berry of Cedar Fort and Chris (John) Skinner of Ophir. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister DeAnna Pennington, brother-in-law Norm Berry, sister-in-law Deanne Degelbeck and nephew Casey Berry. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a love for her Savior Jesus Christ and for the scriptures. She enjoyed sharing her testimony through many acts of service including a two-year mission to central Germany. She was an example of hard work to her children and worked all of her adult life in a variety of secretarial/office manager jobs as well as an Avon lady. She enjoyed singing, dancing, reading, traveling, and supporting her children in their many different activities. We as a family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and social workers of CNS for their care of our sweet wife and mother. She is now happily dancing with her family members who have gone on before her and we know she is our Angel watching over us. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 155 Coventry Lane, North Salt Lake. A viewing will be held the evening prior from 6-8 p.m. as well as one hour before the funeral at the same address as the funeral service. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery (1100 N. 400 East, Lehi, UT). Condolences may be sent to the family at www.serenicare.com.
