Obit Darlene Johnson AllredDarlene Johnson Allred passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on May 24, 2016. She was born Jan. 29, 1932, in Stockton, Utah to Ernest James and Lucille Marshall Johnson. She met the love of her life, Eugene Frank Allred, at the Odd Fellows Dance Hall and they were married Aug. 31, 1949, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three sons: Darl Gene, Kim Johnson and Darrin Lamont. Darlene served in many callings in the LDS church, but her favorite and most memorable was her 13 years as the “Cookie Grandma” for the nursery. She was an amazing example and loved by all. She will be remembered for her generosity and could often be seen in the early morning hours leaving food and gifts on door steps all over town. Darlene was the first person to welcome new people to town. She loved cooking, quilting, anything chocolate (but not the dark stuff, because that’s a laxative), playing the piano, her Netflix, and most importantly, her family. Darlene worked at her father’s store in Stockton for 25 years and later became a lunchlady for the Tooele School District. However in 1982, she quit her job to take on one of her most important roles, a babysitter for her six wonderful grandchildren. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents Earnest and Lucille Johnson; husband Eugene; sister Miriam Anderson; two brothers-in-law George Anderson and Leo White and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her three sons, Darl of Garden Valley, Idaho, Kim (Dana) of Stockton, Utah and Darrin (Karen) of Grantsville, Utah; her grandchildren Tristen, Cody (Aliesha), Ashley (Tyson) Erickson, Preston, Megan and McLaine Allred; and three great-granddaughters Lilli Anne and Aspen Allred and Mackley Erickson; her sisters Naomi White of Beaver, Utah and Eleanor (David) Rust of Vernal, Utah and many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family would like extend a special Thank You to Darin Smith P.A.-C for many years of service and kindness. Viewing will be held at Tate Mortuary in Tooele, 110 S. Main Street, Thursday, May 26, from 6-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Stockton LDS chapel, Friday, May 27 at 11 a.m. There will be a viewing before services from 9-10:30 a.m. Interment Tooele City Cemetery.
