Obit John Brant “Jack” CaldwellOur father, John Brant “Jack” Caldwell passed away peacefully on May 24, 2016. Jack was born in Tooele, Utah on March 11, 1931, the oldest child of Park and LaVone Caldwell. He was the fourth generation of his family born in Tooele. He graduated from Tooele High with the class of 1949 and then from the Utah State Agricultural College in 1953 with a degree in business administration. After college he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Army Reserve as a lieutenant colonel. Jack married Ila Dean Johnson in the LDS Logan Temple on April 24, 1953. After his military service, he moved back to Tooele and worked in the family gas station business until he retired in 1996. Jack loved working with his dad, hunting, building things, growing his annual garden and the Utah Jazz. Jack lost his wife in 2005 and has missed her everyday since. He is survived by his four sons, Jan (Kaylene), John, Jerry (Susan) and Jeff (Laura); two brothers, Joe (Karen) and Glenn; sister in-law Clarice (Bevan) Higbee; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be on Thursday, May 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main, Tooele, and on Friday, May 27 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the Tooele Stake Center, 253 S. 200 East, Tooele. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. The family would like to thank the staffs at Cottage Glen and Magnolia House who helped make his last years comfortable.
