James (Jim) Zakos passed away peacefully on Feb. 21, 2016, at the age of 85 in Grantsville, Utah. He was born Feb. 13, 1931 in Missoula, Montana, the son of Eleanor (Barker) and James G. Zakos. He married Jeanie Adele Grogan in October of 1956 and together they had four beautiful children. Jim proudly served our country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne and received a Bronze Star for his service in the Korean War. He spent many of his younger years working in the family café in Missoula, Montana; then moved his family to Oregon where he was self-employed and then in his later years he moved to Utah to be closer to his son, Dewey. He is survived by his children: Debbie (Mark) McDonnell of Molalla, Oregon, Dewey (Diane) Zakos of Stansbury Park, Utah and Kelly (Ron) Brown of Keizer, Oregon, as well as nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanie and son, James (Chico) Zakos III, The Zakos family would like to especially thank Diamond Jane’s Assisted Living, of Grantsville, for their care and enduring compassion during Jim’s residence.
