Robert “Bob” Wayne Simmons passed away peacefully June 3, 2024, at his home in Salt Lake City. He was born Nov. 17, 1954, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Troy William Simmons and Pauline Mildred Simmons.
He graduated high school in 1973 and enlisted in the US Navy. After he worked his way up to plant manager at Kerr McGee chemical plant in Trona, California, he obtained certificates in chemistry at Duke University in North Carolina, he had a successful career in the chemical industry. Bob was a kind, loving and humorous man who loved his family with everything he had.
He was survived by his children, son Daniel Wayne Simmons, and daughter Kristle Lee Simmons; his grandchildren Jaren Simmons, Kaden Simmons, Brayden, Simmons and Aadison Guerrero-Simmons; his great-grandchildren Zaylee and Jeremiah Simmons; his siblings, sister Karen Baxter who lives in Texas and his brother Ronald Simmons who lives in California. Bob left an incredible family legacy of love and hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. Bob could hardly wait to be home and walk the streets of gold with Jesus.
Visitation for Bob will be held Thursday, June 20, from 10 to 11:45 a.m., at the Dalton-Hoopes Funeral Home, 50 W. Main, Grantsville, Utah. Burial will follow at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, at 1 p.m., with full military honors by the US Navy.
