Joseph passed peacefully at Holladay Health Care Center in Holladay, Utah. Joseph was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Grover Stephen and Dorothy (Barkley) Higley. He grew up in Tooele County, Utah, and lived most of his adult life in Tooele, Utah, along with his parents and siblings Erma (Doug), Wayne (Julia) Janet (Jerry) Laycock, Darryl (Rhita), Lenor Lund, Robert Lee (Dawn) Russel (Elaine). He lived in American Fork, Utah, for a short time where he graduated from American Fork High School and meet and married Kathryn Richan (Colledge) on Nov. 25, 1968. They had two daughters Mary (Roger) Smith and Tina (Rusty) Lees. They divorced and latter he married Judithann (Jolley) Erickson on March 1, 1974. They were sealed in the temple in 1986. She added another daughter Tammy Spencer and two boys David (Arlene) and Dale (Georgeann) Erickson.
Joseph served in the United States Navy for four years, during Vietnam in California as a store clerk. He retired from Magcore from the “tool crib.” He lived to tinker around his shop and watch movies.
He was blessed with many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Erma and brother Wayne, and his daughters and son-in-law, his wife Judy. He loved his family and friends he will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held at the LDS church, 141 W. Utah Ave., Tooele, Utah, Feb. 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. We will be going to the cemetery right after.
