Kenneth LeRoy Gollaher

Obit Kenneth LeRoy GollaherKenneth LeRoy Gollaher passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age 91 on Oct. 19, 2023. He was born Sept. 5, 1932, in Tooele, Utah, to Louis LeRoy Gollaher and Vaunita Christina Peterson. 

He married Thelma Leon Davies on Dec. 14, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple.  They were blessed with five children. While helping raise his posterity, Ken held down a full-time job at the Morton Salt Company in Saltair, Utah, and graduated from the University of Utah with a BSA in accounting. While working for Morton Salt Company, he was transferred to Chicago, Illinois. He was also a member of the Park Forrest Illinois Auxiliary Police Department. Life changes brought them back to Lake Point, Utah. He worked for Tooele County and shortly after that he accepted a position with VECO Inc. as a project accountant during the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup project on the USS Juneau. After the clean-up was over, he accepted a position with the State of Alaska in Anchorage until he retired.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions.

From a young age and into his senior years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma; son Michael and his wife Clarice; favorite son-in-law Mike Schofield; his parents; and siblings Maxine (Shirl) Allen, Alice (Clyde) Jensen, Rex Foust, Brad Yates, Robert Gollaher. He is survived by his sisters Deon Foust, Colleen Yates; and his children Allen (Elesa), Debra Schofield, Kelly (Cathy), John (Stephanie); 15 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1366 E. Canyon Rd., Lake Point, Utah. Services will be held Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at 1 p.m., with a prior visitation from 12 to 12:45 p.m., at the same building. Interment will be at the Lake Point Cemetery. The family would like to thank Canyon Home Care and Rocky Mountain Care-Willow Springs Facility for their care.
