Obit Russell B. TaylorRussell B. Taylor (Russ), left us Sept. 3, 2023, leaving behind a life that was as charismatic and adventurous as the man himself. Russ was born March 16, 1957, in Delta, Utah, to Darrell and Irene. He grew up in Dugway, Utah, graduating from Dugway High School in 1975. He served his country well in the air force and then went on to earn his master electrician certification. He retired from Rio Tinto (Kennecott) in 2016 after working there for 25 years.

He was a man who never shied away from a good gamble, whether it was hunting down elusive deer and elk or challenging Lady Luck at the Mega Bucks machine and Let It Ride Table in Las Vegas. As a wise man once said, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do,” and Russ lived up to these words, earning him the love and respect of his co-workers at Kennecott. He was given the Oscar award from his employees for being the best supervisor, no less! He met and married Diane, the love of his life, in 1993. Together they loved to hunt, travel, and scuba drive around the world and had many unforgettable adventures.

Russ adored teasing people, especially his grandchildren. His laughter was as infectious as his spirit, and family was the most important thing to him. He always wanted to share his passions in life with his grandchildren, whether it was four-wheeling through the rough terrains, sharing his love for hunting, riding horses, or rodeos. His grandchildren were his most cherished gifts in life.

Russell is survived by his devoted wife Diane; his children Amber (Billy), Rayna (Brian), Tyler (Stephanie), Brittany (Pedro), and Jordyn (Kevin); 12 grandchildren Ember, Aubrey, Roy, Russell, Jonah, Braylin, Kaisley, Eden, Kamrie, Gabe, Ila, and Charlie; and his sister Michele Brood. He was preceded in death by his parents Darrell Taylor and Irene Bowers.

Russ, a man who lived life on his own terms, will be honored at a viewing on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m., at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main St., Tooele, Utah.
