Obit Jack Arthur FoxWith a heart full of memories, we announce the passing of Jack Arthur Fox, or “Jackson” as many knew him, Aug. 30, 2023. Born Aug. 24, 1945, in Tooele, Utah, Jack lived a life that was as rich and full as the Budweiser beers he loved. A loyal friend, witty conversationalist, compassionate neighbor, and dedicated family man, Jack left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Jack was a master of many trades, but his vocation was as a diesel mechanic, a career that allowed him to showcase his dedication, skill, and wit. He earned various awards while working for Wheeler Machinery, but it was not the accolades that drove him; it was the love for his work. Jack was also a proud member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Tooele Bit and Spur, and The Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Outside of work, Jack was an avid outdoorsman. He loved horses, camping, ice fishing tournaments in Kemmerer, Wyoming, hunting, and the annual tradition of deep-frying turkey for Thanksgiving. Jack was known for his unique dance moves, often described as “dancing like a chicken,” a sight that brought joy and laughter to everyone. He enjoyed going to Yellowstone, the Tetons and snowmobiling at Island Park. Jack had such a firm handshake that could drop a man to his knees. He was very proud to be a member of the Seabees while in he served in the United States Navy. 

Jack is survived by his beloved wife Shauna Fox; his daughters Jackie (Jim) Cole, Kim Fox, and stepson Carl Lewis. He was a cherished grandfather to Dakota (Kylie) Hutsell, Weston Hutsell, Jaymz Fox, Melissa Mortenson, Sierra, Michael, Elliot, Echo, and CJ; and great-grandfather to nine delightful children. He is also survived by his siblings Cathy (Max) Young, Ellen, Duke Fox, and Bobby Fox. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Robert Fox and Betty Barnard, his sister Carol and brother-in-law Roy, brother-in-law Dick, sister-in-law Rosa Fox and stepson Jeff Lewis.

As we remember Jack, let us reflect on a quote by Maya Angelou that encapsulates his spirit: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Jack made everyone around him feel loved, valued, and full of laughter. Night viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main St., Tooele, Utah. Another viewing will be Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., at the same location. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivans, Utah, for their special care of Jack.
