Katie was born Aug. 18, 1943, in Newark Ohio. She married Jack Oct. 31, 1964. The two were inseparable for 59 years until he departed in 2021.
Our sweet mother, sister and aunt departed this earth to be with her husband Jack Hottinger, (mother) Mary Jean McCabe, (brother) Frank McCabe, and (sisters) Billie Jean Dearing and Calleen McCabe. Leaving behind her son Thomas (Mel) Hottinger, two grandsons Cody and Austin Hottinger, and her dear sister Dawn (Ed) Roberts, and many nieces and nephews.
Katie was an avid Elvis fan, and was diagnosed with dementia several years back (she never forgot Elvis). She was cared for by her sister Dawn in Grantsville for the last few years of her life. Katie and Dawn were close all of their lives. The pair shopped and decorated every holiday.
Katie spent her early life working as a cross guard for Tooele City for about 12 years, then Cornets about 10 years to Walmart for about seven years. She collected Coke and Elvis for years. She spent many hours making Kleenex boxes, aprons, and holiday items she gave to hundreds of people. Her heart was big, always sending something with friends, family and strangers. You never left her home hungry or empty-handed.
There will be a graveside service Friday, Sept. 8, at 12 p.m., at the Tooele City Cemetery.
We want to thank Heather and Holly with Canyon Home Health and Mountain West Medical Center for her hospice and home care, as well as Didericksen Memorial.
