Ronald Dean Jones

Ronald Dean Jones, age 90, returned home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023. He was reunited with Margaret, his wife of 58 years and his youngest son Larry, who preceded him in death.
Ronald was born in 1933 in Castle Dale, Utah, to Lindley Elmer Jones and Rebecca Dosine Petersen Jones and is the youngest of 14 siblings. He was raised in a small two-room cabin, and was excited to learn that the cabin is currently being restored. Ronald spent most of his life in Grantsville, where he and his wife raised their three sons. Ronald loved to talk about his family and growing up, he had many incredible life stories that he loved to share about family and friends.
Ronald lived a very full life filled with many experiences. He was an accomplished trap shooter, and enjoyed playing guitar and singing the “old songs.” He loved being together with family and friends for any reason or occasion. He loved to camp, hunt, fish, and the outdoors in general. Ronald enjoyed a good game of horseshoes, and to have good friends and family around to play with. Later in life, Ronald was very proud to have the opportunity to enter the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for his endowments and then to be sealed to his wife and son.
Ronald is survived by his two sons Ronald R. Jones and Earl D. Jones (Tammy); grandchildren Ronald L. Jones (Emily), Matthew R. Jones, Ray Jones (Mandy), and Heather Jones (Kane); as well as great-grandchildren Devon, Alyssa (David), Indiana (Darla), Avery, Michael, James, Aidan, Reese, Hayvn, Corbyn; and one great-great-grandchild Harper.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at the Grantsville City Cemetery, 426 E. Main St., Grantsville, at noon. There will be a viewing for family prior to the services from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Tate Mortuary 110 S. Main St., Tooele, Utah.
