Jack Lewis was born Oct. 1, 1929, to John and Mollie (nee Jones) Lewis in Malad City, Idaho. The sixth of seven children, Jack followed in the athletic footsteps of his older brothers and played football, baseball and basketball in high school. He also excelled in academics and served as president of the 1947 Malad High Senior Class. He married Donna Waldron on Nov.17, 1950, and thus began a beautiful partnership. A “Jack-of-all-trades” and master of many, Jack worked hard his entire life. He grew up doing farming/ranching work and continued that after purchasing his father’s land — giving John a life estate, which allowed him to spend all but the last year of his life in that home. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Jack delivered milk for Cream O’Weber in Dugway, Tooele and Salt Lake. He went the extra mile for those in remote areas such as Dugway and delivered many other things (donuts, birthday cakes, and once, even a strapless bra). Upon retiring, he turned his attention to welding — making metal art out of bits and pieces of old machinery. One of Jack’s goals was to see the United States and together he and Donna visited 49 of the 50 states and the capital cities. They shared these cross-country trips, as well as many other camping, waterskiing, snowmobiling and sight-seeing vacations, with their children and their siblings. They were always ready to go and ready to share the adventure. Jack visited the 50th state (Hawaii) the year after Donna’s death (January 2009). Throughout his life, Jack shared his zest for life; the joys of vacation; his love of reading; and his excellent work ethic (don’t just do your best, do the extra to help your fellow man) with those around him. He always put Donna first, his children next, then his family and friends. If he thought of himself, it was last. Surviving family members include his children, Jackie (Bill), Marlene, Kyle, Blane (Brenda) and Bonnie; his grandchildren, Aimee (Paul), Brian (Akiko), Kristin (Daniel), Denise, Michael, Timothy (Sarah), Gregory, Travis, Allix and Nicole; his great-grandchildren, Xevan, Akari, Abbeigh and Kelden; Noble and Aisa and his brother Barney.
