Daryl Gene Phillips passed away April 25, 2022, at the age of 73 fighting cancer. By his side at his last breath was his wonderful wife Lorraine Phillips and stepdaughter Kristy Evans-Brown.
Daryl was born Dec. 31,1948, in Stanberry (Gentry), Missouri, to parents Carl and Rosella Phillips. He leaves behind a sister Carolyn Messner. Daryl graduated from Stanberry High School in Missouri. Growing up in Missouri he loved playing baseball. Unfortunately, he missed his opportunity to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals. He and his siblings also loved hunting morel mushrooms. These delicacies are only harvested in the wild and during a certain time of the year.
Daryl enlisted in the army at the age of 19 and served in Vietnam. He received multiple medals and badges during his service to his country. During his time in the military, he worked as a crane and heavy equipment operator. His military training would eventually bring him to Utah where he would continue his career as a skilled heavy equipment operator. Daryl enjoyed being outdoors as often as he had the chance, whether it be hunting, fishing, or golfing. He loved watching the Chiefs win the Super Bowl, the St. Louis Cardinals play, and Jimmy Johnson in NASCAR. Daryl lived a happy life. While living in Tooele he met his wife Lorraine, and they were married Nov. 11, 2000.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine (Tooele, Utah); stepson Victor “Chico”(Jennifer of Florida); stepdaughters Kristy (Jamison of Tooele), Berley (Rachel of Florida); sister Carolyn (Albany, Missouri); niece Janice (Alpine, Utah); five grandchildren Julianna, Zachery, Noah, Jade, and Jamison ”Bubba”; and many other family and friends.
A memorial service was held at Tate Mortuary, May 3, 2022.
