Heaven has opened its doors to Anne Kathleen Dosen Kearns, who passed away on June 10, 2015. She was born to Michael Paul and Katie Pezel Dosen on July 25, 1920, in Tooele, Utah. Graduating from Tooele High School in 1938, she married her high school sweetheart, Peter F. Kearns, on Sept. 14, 1940. They spent more than 50 years together until his passing in 1994. Anne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. The past 20 years, she lived in Salt Lake City. Many of those years, she lived with her sister Magdalen, who passed away in 2012. They spent the last few years at Cottonwood Creek Retirement Home, where they made many wonderful friends. Anne was the youngest of three daughters. She, along with her sisters, Mary (Tomich) and Mag (Curry), lived most of their lives in Tooele, being part of a close knit family of Croatian heritage. She was an employee of Tooele School District, having served as secretary to the superintendent for many years. She is survived by her children: Peter M. (Lila) of St. George, Utah; Kathleen K. Sadler (Gordon) of West Jordan, Utah; and Michael P. (Becky) of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Pete (Anna) Kearns; Steven (Marci) Kearns; Kristin Reardon; David (Kristi) Reardon; Angela (Chris) VanDijk; Justin (Lindsay) Kearns; seven step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. “Annie” loved life and fought against leaving her earthly bounds. Her mind was keen up to her final days, being able to recall vivid details of family, friends and events. She was always happy to be the center of attention. She was especially proud to have been crowned Miss Tooele County in 1938. She loved to sing, was an avid Utah Jazz fan and was a devout Catholic. A special thank you to Cottonwood Creek, Care Source Hospice and her niece, Dr. Sally Sharp, all of whom offered her compassionate care during her final months. Also, a special thank you to Father Dave Van Massenhove, for his spiritual support and guidance; and Laura Webber for her devoted friendship over the past few years. Mom would want us to mention her daughter, Kathleen, with whom she had a very special bond and her granddaughter, Kristin, who offered unwavering support and care during her final years. Anne was a special lady, who lived life to the fullest measure and who loved and was loved by everyone she knew. She will be sorely missed. Journey well “Moji Mama”… A mass and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at noon at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 E. Creek Road, Cottonwood Heights, Utah, with a visitation one hour prior to services. A gathering in her honor will take place immediately after the service. Private burial services will be held at Tooele City Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
