In the early morning hours of Monday, June 15, 2015, my husband, lifelong companion and best friend; dad of Amber (Alex) and Amanda; Grampa to Nick, Jordyn, Maje, Jaysa, Kamdyn, and Alexander; after saying his goodbyes, for now, to each one left his broken earthly body to play golf with the angels after he lost his two-and-a-half-year exhausting battle with mesothelioma cancer. Randy was born to Kenneth and Laverna Davies in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Tooele High School, served his country well for four years in the Navy and married Linda Weyland in November of 1975. Together, they had two wonderful daughters who blessed them with six grandchildren who Randy loved with his whole heart. Golf was his other love that he played until he no longer could, but watched avidly on the Golf Channel. Randy worked for CAMDS Tooele Army Depot South Area for 32 years until his retirement in May of 2012. He was preceded in death by his father, father-in-law, sister-in-law, and grandparents. Randy is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Amber (Alex) and Amanda; grandchildren, Nicklas, Jordyn, Maje, Jaysa, Kamdyn, and Alexander Jr.; one brother, Scott (Cynthia); three sisters; mother, Laverna; and his dog, Hope. The family wishes to convey a very special thank-you to all of our friends and medical staff, “our second family and home away from home” at Huntsman Cancer Center. You are wonderful. Thank you for the love and friendships and endless hours you provided to us and Randy to help him have the best quality of life possible. We will be forever grateful. Also thank you to the staff from Canyon Home Care and Hospice for the special care provided in our time of need. And our love and thanks to Pamela Giles, our friend and extended family member for everything she did on Randy’s final day. Graveside services will be conducted by Tate Mortuary at Tooele City Cemetery on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10 a.m. Per Randy’s request, there will be no viewing prior. Randy was very fortunate to have all the friends he had in life. You were all an inspiration to him in one way or another and he loved you all. Randy wanted this simple and short, so please come casually dressed.
