Louis “Wino” Winnegge, beloved dad, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away Sept. 8, 2021, in Tooele, Utah. He was 78 years old.
Louis was born May 29, 1943, in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota, to Earl and Anne Winnegge. He had one sister Linda (Chuck) Macchia, who passed away in 2017.
Louis was a Vietnam veteran who served his country from 1968 to 1970. He was honorably discharged and shortly after married Marilyn “Oggie” Eastman who passed in 1985. They had three children.
He was employed at Anaconda, then moved on to Tooele Army Depot where he retired after 23 years.
He was best known to family and friends as “Wino.” He will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, and the nicest head of hair. He loved to tell childhood stories about his grandpa’s farm. He was a lover of fast cars, watching them and owning them. He will be remembered for having some of the nicest cars in town.
He is survived by his children Joey (Leanna) Espinoza, Sunne Rae Winnegge, and Brett (Stephen) Lopez; his six grandchildren Rayann, Michaela, Julian, Antoinette, Laurel, and Stephanie; two great-grandchildren; companion Debbie; niece Staci; and nephew Dean.
His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at 2 p.m., at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main St., Tooele, Utah.
