Mary Margaret Gandy passed away July 15, 2021, at home in Rush Valley, Utah. She was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Elmer C. Duke and Elizabeth Shanks.
Mary grew up with a family of musicians. Her father used to sing on The Grand Ole Opry, and family members were always playing instruments and singing around the house. She loved any kind of music, including Pink Floyd. Mary was a devout Catholic, her family and religion were most important to her.
She is survived by her sons Alfred and David Gandy, daughter Ann Donahue, brother John R. Duke, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband Donald Lee Gandy; and brothers, Elmer C. Duke Jr., and James L. Duke.
Funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 29, 2021, at St. Marguerite Catholic Church, 15 S. 7th St., Tooele, with a rosary at 10 a.m. and service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at a later date at Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura, California.
