Obit Denise Ann Bates-Gordon 1August 31, 1972 – June 12, 2021

Denise Ann Bates-Gordon was called back home to be with her loved ones. Denise battled a rare type of leukemia for two and a half years. After roughly seven months of fighting, her youngest daughter Taya donated bone marrow, giving us two extra years to be with our loving mother. Denise was a strong, courageous fighter who kept her head held high through it all.

Obit Denise Ann Bates-Gordon 2Denise was born in Wahiawa, Oahu, Hawaii. Being a military brat, she traveled around the states where they finally planted their roots in Utah. Denise lived a fun and wild life where she met her ex-husband Danny and had three beautiful “chicklets” Stormi, Hope, and Taya. After months of searching, Denise completed her family by getting her fur daughter Abbie. Denise and Danny lived a happy life together but decided to split ways.

Denise loved to be outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening. She has always had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially her little quail friends. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and loved ones and going to yard sales. While she was at home you could find her playing guitar hero or crafting things like bracelets, necklaces, leis, and beautiful wire trees. Denise had an amazing soul and touched the lives of many. She was a great listener and opened her heart to those who needed it. She was always eager to help out and enjoyed meeting new people throughout her life. Denise always talked about how proud she was of her daughters’ accomplishments in life. Some of her greatest gifts in life were her grandbabies.

Denise is survived by her mother Anna; her daughters Stormi (Cody), Hope (Henry), and Taya (Thomas); her brothers and sisters Adele (Robert), John (Desma), Ruth (Jeff), Esther (Mark-deceased); her grandbabies Sighlee, Haegan, Malaki, Hendrix, and Hazel; her grand furbabies Marley, Dexter, Lucy, Lady, and Copper; extended family and close family friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving father Dennis; brother Ben; sister Mary; brother-in-law Mark; grandson Sieruz; furbabies Abbie, Gus, and Brutus.

Our beautiful mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandma will be deeply missed. We will cherish all of the times and sweet memories made with her.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 21, 2021, at 11 a.m., at the Old Grantsville Church, 297 W. Clark St., Grantsville, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m., and also one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the Tooele City Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Huntsman Cancer Institute, Hope Lodge, Rocky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, and Dalton-Hoopes Funeral Home. A celebration of life BBQ will be held after the funeral services at 3 o’clock, at the Pratt Aquatic Center swimming pool park, 55 N. 200 West. We will be at the open pavilion. Online condolences and memories may be shared at daltonhoopes.com.
