On Saturday, May 15, 2021, Kaydell Duane Leavitt, loving husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather sadly passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60.
Kaydell was born Dec. 12, 1960, in Tooele, Utah, to Janice Leavitt and Stephen Udell Leavitt. He received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Utah in 1987 and worked as a computer programmer for 20 years until he had to retire. Aug. 6, 1988, he married Gailene Lowe and instantly gained two daughters, and later had another daughter together.
Kaydell was passionate about programming and loved computers. Some of his other interests included University of Utah, the USA, world maps, and of course his Diet Mountain Dew.
Kaydell loved his family very much, especially spoiling his grandchildren.
Kaydell was preceded in death by his parents Stephen Udell and Janice Leavitt, and many other family members.
He is survived by his wife Gailene Leavitt; three daughters Krystal (Lindy) Bronson, Anissa (Kodie) Wheelwright, and Amanda (Mark) Despain; as well as 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild., He is also survived by four siblings Debra Jorgensen, Douglas Leavitt, Korey Leavitt, and Jason Leavitt.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 21, at the Fort Lane Ward chapel, 1402 N. Fort Lane, Layton, Utah. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Burial will then follow the funeral at the Tooele City Cemetery, 361 S. 100 East, Tooele, Utah.
