Obit Arlie Ann Siniscalchi VandegriftOur loving mother and Candy Grandma passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020, at her home of natural causes. Arlie was born March 22, 1931, in Galeton, Colorado, to William and Helen Petty. She had three siblings, brother Bill Petty (deceased), sisters June Best (deceased) and Selma Van Dyke. She graduated from Riverside High School in Riverside, Illinois, in 1948.

She married Joseph Siniscalchi, Aug. 8, 1951, and remained married until his death in 1978. She later married John Vandegrift in Lakeland, Florida, where they resided until his death in Aug. 2015. She then returned to Tooele, Utah, where she resided until her death.

Arlie was a dedicated housewife, mother to her boys, grandmother, and cat lover. The stories we could share are endless, from dented colanders, sink baths, yelling at sporting events, to her dry wit and sarcastic personality.

She worked at the Tooele Army Depot in the travel office for many years. She loved her time there and made many friends.

Arlie was an avid reader (thousands and thousands of books), and a loyal Chicago Cubs fan. She lived through many years of pitiful Cubs performances, but her dedication never waned. She experienced pure elation in 2016 when her beloved Cubbies broke the curse.

She is survived by her sons Joe (Kim), Jeff (Suzanne), Keith (Frances), Brad (Eyrin); grandchildren Ashley (Justin), Danielle (Noel), Christopher (Abbey), Lauren, Ryan (Katie), John, Nic, Mitchell, and Cate; great-grandchildren Saul, Gabe, Ezekiel, Eli, Rowen, Rio, and Brooks.

A graveside service was held Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at the Tooele City Cemetery.

Go Cubs Go!
