On the afternoon of Nov. 26, 2019, Harold (Ole) W. Olson, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Our dad waited nine long years to be reunited with his other half. Dad’s second home during those years was Jim’s Restaurant where he shared many cups of coffee, lively discussions and friendship with many. Ole was born March 5, 1939, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Lucille and Harold W. Olson Sr. He grew up helping his father fish Lake Michigan and working at Plumbs grocery store. He fell in love with Utah after having been stationed at Dugway Proving Grounds. After boot camp he returned to Michigan to marry Freddie Lou Meinert on July 14, 1962. They enjoyed 48 wonderful years of marriage.
Ole is survived by his daughter, Terry (Jerry) Syndergaard of Tooele, Utah; son, Toby (Trish) Olson of Draper, Utah; four grandchildren, Jessica (Scott), Alec Olson, Joshua Syndergaard and Drake Olson; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Scott Rasmussen; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Dale Mienert of Montague, Michigan; sisters, Connie Scudder of Montague, Michigan, and Marry Ann Bard of Whitehall, Michigan; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Olson of Holland, Michigan.
Ole was preceded in death by his wife, Freddie; parents; brother, Ricky Olson; sister, Shirley Rasmussen;, sister-in-law, Gwen TenBrinck; and brothers-in-law, Bud Scudder, Herb Bard, and Tom Meinert.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, at 12 p.m., at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main St., Tooele, Utah. Prior visitation will be held at 11 a.m. prior to service at the mortuary. Interment will take place after service in the Tooele City Cemetery.
