Helen LaVoy Barnes, 92, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at her granddaughter’s home in Grantsville, Utah. She was born on Sept. 3, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Arthur and Mary Jane Littleford Gill. She graduated from Granite High School and attended the University of Utah. Helen married Ronald Brown, with whom she had five children and later divorced. She married Edward (Ted) J.S. Barnes in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, currently being in the Brigham City 14th Ward. She served as a hostess at LDS Conference Center and worked in the cafeteria in the Ogden LDS Temple. Helen was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Helen enjoyed needlework, quilting, crocheting many dresses for great-grandchildren and many other things. The family would like to thank Encompass Home Health and Hospice, Paige, Dena, Sue, Julie and Lori. Surviving is her husband, Ted Barnes; three children, Edwin Marion Brown, Arthur Gill Brown, James Ronald Brown, 26 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Marijane Brown Ray and Linda Brown Blake. In lieu of flowers make donations to Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, P.O. Box 704, Brigham City, Utah 84302 to offset funeral cost. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Brigham City LDS 14th Ward Chapel, 650 Anderson Drive.
