Obit Diane Lee 1Diane Lee, our loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, valiantly completed her battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Nov. 6, 2018, and returned to her Heavenly Father and many loved ones on the other side.

Obit Diane Lee 2Diane was born in Tooele, Utah, on March 30, 1945, to Milton Willard Lee and Mary Ruth Tate Lee. Diane spent most of her life in Tooele, Utah, where she graduated from Tooele High School. She married Leland Herbert (Biff) Groskreutz and had two sons, Todd and Biff. Diane and Biff later divorced. She married John Wayne Miller and had her third son, Johnny. Diane and John also later divorced. She lived in Kaiserslautern, Germany, for 5 years with her family and had many great memories from this time in her life. Diane retired from Tooele Army Depot after 30 years of service in the Procurement Department where she received many honors and awards.

After retirement, she moved to St. George where she enjoyed being close to her family and made many amazing friends. She loved spending hours each day watering her flowers and walking her beloved dogs — Annee and Luci — around the neighborhood. She loved volunteering at Arrowhead Elementary in a kindergarten classroom taught by her friend, Jackie. She was very involved in her ward and served in the Relief Society organization as the secretary. She developed an increased love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and loved serving and helping others.

She spent her last few years at Alta Ridge Memory Care in Sandy, Utah, where she resided until her passing. Words cannot express our love and appreciation to the caring staff who often went above and beyond to care for our sweet mother. She loved them and they loved her. Thank you to our hospice angel nurse, Lindsay, who saw us through some very dark and difficult days.

Diane’s greatest legacy was her ability to love unconditionally. She would do anything for anyone. She would always greet you with a smile and a hug. She was always so grateful for all her blessings — mostly her sons and her family. She loved game shows, coloring, word searches, and card games. No one could escape a visit to Diane’s without at least one round of cards.

Diane was the proud mother of three sons: Todd (Laura) Groskreutz, Draper, Utah; Biff (Julie) Groskreutz, Stockton, Utah; and John (Caprice) Miller, Santa Clara, Utah. She has three amazing women in her life who she was lucky enough to call her sisters and friends: Kathy Whitehouse, Kandy (Mike) Walters, and Debbie (Jeff) Norton. She has 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all who lovingly called her GG.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Belle Johannessen; her brother, Jerry Lee; a grandson, Cole Miller; a great-granddaughter, Havyn Lee Groskreutz; and her beloved mini Schnauzer, Annee, who was her companion for 17 years.

A celebration of Diane’s life will be held this Saturday, Nov. 10 at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main St., Tooele, Utah. A viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery next to her mother and father.  We love you mom — until we meet again.
