Dean was born Dec. 14, 1948, to Lyal and Ruth Chamberlin in Muscatine, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, in Tooele, Utah, due to health complications.
Dean graduated from Muscatine Senior High School on May 29, 1967. He joined the U.S. Air Force on Feb. 9, 1970, and served as Security Police, spending a year in Vietnam. Dean earned an Air Force Commendation Medal in 1970, which he was very proud of. He was Honorably Discharged from the Air Force on Feb. 8, 1974.
Dean worked for the Federal Government for 35 years, working both at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, then transferring to Tooele Army Depot, which was due to marrying his wife, Joy. Dean and Joy married in April 2000.
After retirement, Dean went camping and fishing with his good buddies. He became an associate member of the Tooele Marine Corps League. He enjoyed his trips to Wendover. He loved his pet cats, even though he wouldn’t admit it very often.
Dean is survived by his wife, Joy Chamberlin, Tooele; daughter, Heather Whittemore, Muscatine, Iowa; granddaughter, Makayla Delano, Muscatine, Iowa; sister, Chris Hall (Jim Hall), Muscatine, Iowa; and Buffy, Casper and Henry of Tooele.
Services will be Friday, Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main, Tooele. Visitation will be at Tate Mortuary on Thursday, Oct. 25 from 6-8 p.m., and at 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 26. Dean will be buried at Tooele City Cemetery.
